It probably is close to that depending on the age group. But my wife is a teacher and many of these days are designed and supported by faculty because if they wear orange they get relaxed dress code for the employees. It's one reason you see so many of them.

My kid almost didn't get admitted to kindergarten because she refused to say the word "orange" when going through a color-recognition pre-admission test.

(Two decades later we're still laughing about that one.)

This. I raised my kid right. In her kindergarten play, she was supposed to be an orange flower. She told her teacher she wasn't "allowed to wear orange because it is the bad color."

I asked my daughter about it and she said that she thought it was for anti-bullying.

Regardless, I went on to explain to her how events like this are often Trojan horses designed to get you to accept ideas that may not be good. I said that unity is fine as an idea, but it is what they want you to be unified with is where the danger lies.

People are different, you must use judgment is deciding how you interact with people. I don't know much about this Unity Day specifically, but like most liberal "inclusion" causes, the real goal is to make you think that you must accept evil or you yourself are evil.

Heck, when my son was in second grade he convinced his classmates to give him all of their orange crayons and markers. He then gave them all to the teacher so that "no can use the forbidden color."
