Not just a snafu or a gaffe. It reveals how stupid, dangerous, and ignorant Trump is.

But in almost every case, the sanctions were imposed with Trump complaining about it saying we were being too hard. The fact is that he barely knew where Ukraine was. He once asked John Kelly, his second chief of staff, if Finland were a part of Russia. It is just not accurate to say that Trump's behavior somehow deterred the Russians. I think the evidence is that Russia didn't feel that their military was ready.
You mean Bolton has bad things to say about Trump? Shocking a guy Trump fired and then showed how wrong he was when he pulled off peace in the Middle East that Bolton thought was impossible is petty and still and looking for Democrats to show him some love (after literally decades of thinking Bolton was Satan incarnate for you guys since he loves war). Trump used him like a $3 ***** to get leverage to end the War on Terror by making Iran think he was going to actually go to war with them and ended up playing them all like a fiddle by getting Israel and Saudi allied. Bolton will never get over that, neither will Kelly or "Mad Dog".
As for your OP, if Trump is President then Russia never invades Ukraine. Why? Trump made it clear to Putin he would light up Moscow if he did and Putin believed him because Trump actually backed up his threats in Syria by mowing down 500 Russian mercenaries without hesitation. He also would not have had that disaster in Afghanistan and he would have kept Nordstream 2 on the sidelines. Putin invaded because he knew Biden was weak.
BTW, Putin wins in Ukraine if he didn't assume it was going to be a cakewalk. Had he sent in his best troops to start and gone straight for Kiev then Ukraine loses before NATO (and make no mistake, NATO is who pushed Biden to help Ukraine and it's not Biden who is leading he is just financing). Putin was planning on going from Ukraine to the Baltics but he was smelling his own farts on how effective his military was and now he is in a mess.
Finally this is about how it ends and Putin still has the trump card, he can go nuclear and as long as he doesn't have an assurance of a NATO response in kind he very well might. Due to that he will be able to get a far better deal than he should be able to because there isn't much of a choice. Russia is willing to go nuclear and NATO is not and he knows it. So at this point we are pushing this to a point where we continue to escalate and risk nuclear war or we find a compromise with him. That's the lovely position Biden has now put us in. If all you care about is smearing Putin's face in crap and you don't care if he makes Ukraine and maybe the world glow in the dark that's ok I guess but I would rather we weren't in this situation. It's not like anyone thought Russia could beat NATO in a conventional fight so I am not sure what your flex is.
Putin is a horrible person that has no concern for human life, even his own people. He cares about his own power and sees himself as Peter the Great reincarnated. He's not an idiot though and to look at what is going on in Ukraine without understanding what Putin is doing is insanity.
