Haven't seen this posted yet, but this is one of the most angering officer involved shootings I have ever seen.

Background: Officer incorrectly believed this to be a vehicle that evaded him the night prior. Subject (17) was hit multiple times, haven't found any definitive updates to his status but believe he is alive. Officer was 7 months into the job and was fired for this event. Subject stopped a bit down the road and was taken to a hospital, charged with evading and assaulting a peace officer (don't think those stick)

Normally very supportive of the boys in blue, and definitely do not envy their job. But WTF was this guy doing?!? Disgusting conduct

That is horrible. I don't need more background context unless he has a kidnapped victim in the back seat. Glad the kid is alive.

Unless there is some evidence I'm completely missing charge this ex-cop with attempted murder.

There's nothing I can see to justify this awful shoot

Bad shoot, but his car was parked, he was munching on his burger and, for whatever reason, he tried to drive away. Still a bad shoot for the cop.

Cop just opens his door too - I'd drive off as well - zero idea if homeboy is actually a cop.

Did the kid actually mean to drive off or was he trying to get it in park and just freaking out? It was hard to tell.

This is what I thought. Cop is going to spend a long time in prison.

I mean, if that's the whole interaction the kid (let's change it to adult) coulda blown the cop away and been 100% within his legal rights, correct?

SAPD rookie James Brennand initially said he fired his weapon after the teen suspect struck him with his vehicle, according to police reports obtained by MySA. However, body-cam footage posted by the department appears the teen, who's recovering in hospital, never struck the officer.

And he lied to boot. I've got zero concept of what he even thought he saw that justified pulling his weapon and even less understanding as to what possessed him to start the whole interaction like that.

Seems incredibly stupid for a cop to jerk open someone's car door and point a gun at them with no advanced warning. The kid probably only saw the barrel of a gun pointing at him and that's why he hauled ass.

If it wasn't for body cans the narrative from this shooting would be much different. The Blue Wall would have stood up for this idiot in a badge.

Bad shoot. Cop should be fired and prosecuted.

But don't run from the cops people, just do what they say

Yep. Best thing that has happened in the police world in a long long time.

Saw the cops do a lot of things in Houston 20+ years ago that they would not get away with today.

I doubt the guy even realized it was a cop before he was shot.

Where did the kid disobey the cop before the cop lost his s*** and started shooting? He started running when the dumbass shot him.

Uhhh, watch the video.

Cop opens the door and say "get out of the car." Kid puts the car in reverse and starts backing up, with the cop in the door.

If the driver was black, corporations across America would be holding special meetings to have "difficult discussions" about race.

Dumb for the cop to put himself in that position. When the kids backed up with him in the doorway, that would be a legal shoot, while he was in the doorway of a vehicle being used to run him over. But, when he did shoot the first time, he was out of the doorway and no longer in danger. Second shooting was clearly bad.

Bad decision making on both parts, but the cop has the responsibility to be within the realm of reasonableness.

I've watched the video. Numerous times. Within a two second time frame the cop tells him to get out of the car, the kid asks why, the cop grabs at him, and the car starts to move. There's no blame for this situation anywhere but the cop. The cop made a dumb decision in how he initiated contact and then gave zero time to even comply. Listen to the cops is fine, but this situation that doesn't fly.

You asked where the kid disobeyed the cop and that he started running when the cop shot him. These are factually incorrect.

Then you moved the goalposts by changing your statement to what you posted in my quote above.

You watched the video drunk? because there is time in the video, and there is a pause button.

The sequence of events (time is from the video posted in the OP):
8 sec: kid looks back surprised at the door opening
9-10 sec: kids has observed and oriented (mentally processed) that there is a uniformed police officer there and decided he is going to not comply, but instead escape.
10 sec: kid places hand on shifter, pushes button and moves shifter into reverse, moves hand towards steering wheel
11 sec: kid says "what or why" and accelerates the car backwards as the cop is moving into the doorway
12 sec: cop grabs at kid, while having to move to his right to avoid being knocked down by the door
12-13 sec: cop draws gun, while moving back out of the doorway
13 sec: cop aims gun (he is out of the doorway and no longer in imminent danger)
14 sec: cop starts firing gun

The cop was dumb, but if the kid had complied the lawful order, he wouldn't have gotten shot, so he does bear some blame. The kid, based on his actions of proactively placing the car in reverse and accelerating back. He may have not intended to hit the officer, but he intended on escaping.
Quincey P. Morris
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Oh please. There is blame in one place here and one place only. And frankly, lawful order my ass.

You wanna debate two seconds versus five or six, fine. None of that changes the fact that there was virtually no time given to comply. The car doesn't start to move until dumbass starts grabbing at the kid. There's nowhere in the video even showing how the car starts to move and it's far from outside the realm of possibility that the car was put into gear by mistake when dumbass escalates the situation for no reason. Trying to put this into the realm of "just do as the officer says" is absurdly moronic.

Terrible behavior by the cop. Being fired is only the beginning for him. Wait for a huge civil suit, likely settled by city of SA for megabucks, and maybe criminal charges followed by jail time. The only break he caught was attempting to kill a white boy instead of an Hispanic or Black.

That's BS

Thats not how the human mind works. You basically, by pointing out the time frame, proved that the driver did nothing wrong. It takes the average person longer than 3-4 seconds to completely grasp a shock to their environment. Some flee, some fight, some freeze. But everyone is different and that's why cops are specifically trained not to do what he did. I am sure in your line of work that you have some knowledge of that fact.

I don't internet argue, especially when I am stating the obvious. Someone else will argue with you.

Edit- If you read what I typed first, I apologize for my tone. I am still awake because I have been sick with a sinus infection for days and am just generally pissed off. Love you man. I just strongly disagree with you on this one.
