Interesting math for a group of 15.

No doubt. Trying to wrap my head around how Abbott went from 40 to 43 percent with a group of 15 people. So he got half a person?

I love the "mostly undecided" too.

BTW this doesn't matter at all. There are very few undecideds in this race, Beto can only win by taking from Abbott and unless Abbott does something really, really dumb that's not going to even get close.

After the debate 4.5 people supported Abbot and 7.5 people supported Beto

If you're gonna fake a poll, at least make it plausible

The whole thing is already Abbott vs. the moderators.
Wait... you mean a republican candidate fell for a panel of lib moderators AGAIN????!!!

At this point it's just getting comical.
Not really happened that way. They pretty closely stuck to their timer routines. If anything there was one question please Abbott got to answer where it seemed it went on a tad longer than expected.

Unless you feel the questions, themselves were `stacked' it wasn't `lib moderator' sabotaged like Romney 2012 or Trump Sep 2020.

But the questions followed things discussed on this board, and like said earlier, they did include things like Beto's "coming for all your guns" and what he ran on as President.

If there was bias, it was largely canceled by the timers did the limits. Not the moderators--- unless, again, you think the questions were bad.

Let's set an over/under on the number of lies Beta tells. How about 28, and I'll take the over
Beto's strategy was clearly making sensational, false claims that forced Abbot to spend valuable time refuting them. Telling and repeating big lies is how the dems roll.

It was a terrible showing for beto if you know what is really going on. The strategy you mention is a little unsettling … Not that beto himself worries me, but people are not too intelligent as a whole.

Good thing he doesn't have the poise or moxie to win anything.

Best part of debate was when he got called out on running and failing so much.

I don't personally care if they get swiftly executed. But I'm not convinced its a deterrent to people like that who are so ****ed in the head. It also doesn't address the cause, but is a reactive solution that satisfies a need for revenge. It's not really a solution.

You what is the most effective deterrent. Law abiding citizens with the means to protect.

Choose your option:

Abbott wishes he could be Ron DeSantis but is a lesser version that tries to copy him.

Beto wishes he could be Gavin Newsom but is a lesser version that tries to copy him.

What did Abbott copy DeSantis on? He sent the immigrants up first. Are you talking about Covid things?

Greg wastes money on political stunts and doesn't do anything to help Texans. How are your property taxes doing? What kind of penalty are those rapists getting? What about high-powered weapons for 18 year olds? How's your power grid? Confident in it? Greg has done NOTHInG good for our state.

It's possible that you're new to Texas so I'll extend you some grace. The governor of Texas is actually not very powerful and is more of a figurehead than other governors. You might do well to study Texas government and educate yourself lest you look ignorant in political discussions.

The format and questions favored Beto and Beto won the debate.

But most of what Beto said is unattainable or dismisses the underlying facts.

It's easy to say "I will fix your grid" when you don't explain what exactly Beto believes is wrong with the grid.

Abbott was absolutely correct that he improved the grid's reliability but he wasn't offered enough time to talk about what he thought was wrong with the grid and what he did to make it more reliable,

Abbott has signed 2 laws that have kept local taxing entities capped on how they can increase property taxes -- the rollback rate at 7% and then reduced to 3.5%. He also signed the 2019 property tax reform bill that reduced my school taxes from 1.21 to 1.08 per $100 valuation.

You can't explain this when the moderator rings a bell every 15 seconds.

With shorter time allotted to answer questions, it favored Beto who only had to mention a "problem" and declare it fixed if Beto is elected.

Really? What about how O'Rourk is absolutely incorrect or wrong about every single issue? What's the excuse for that?

Abbot 62%
Pendejo 35%
Other 3%

Won't even be close.

Ok, well I hadn't seen it. I was just going off of what normally happens and the initial reports that said it was Abbott vs the moderators.

I didnt know Beta bussed families from Ulvalde to the debate:

Uvalde families stand with Beto O'Rourke amid Republican silence on gun reform (msn.com)

Quote:

The Rubios were one of several Uvalde families who accompanied O'Rourke to Edinburg on Friday, despite the 10-hour bus ride each way.
Quote:

Mata, Rizo, the Rubios and the rest of the families were not able to attend the debate despite their long trek to south Texas. O'Rourke said Abbott would only agree to debate with no audience even spouses. However, O'Rourke said he would bring the greeting card signed by the Uvale victims' families with him on stage, along with other mementos.
So the actual purpose was a photo op?

Where in the **** did they get TEN hrs for the bus trip?

It's a little over 4 from Uvalde to Edinburg...

ETA: I just looked at the map and TEXARKANA is 10 hrs away from Edinburg. I mean, I know Texas is a big ass state, but JFC...south Texas to south Texas is not THAT far.

Yes. Beta and his supporters love them some dead kid props. If there's another shooting before the election they will be like kids on Christmas morning.

The time to replace Abbott was the primary, that didn't happen so here we are. The ideal candidate for Texas aligns more with someone like DeSantis, not Newsome. There isn't a single position Beto purports which makes him a better option....not one.

While Abbott **** the bed with his covid response, that pales in comparison with what would have happened with Beto. Add to that:

  • open borders / uncontrolled illegal immigration
  • soft on crime / defund police
  • attack on the second amendment
  • abortion for convenience
  • full blown wokeness
  • doubling down on public sector unions
  • throwing good money after bad into the current public education system

the list goes on, and on, and on. The only reason the numbers are tightening over the years is because the transplants escaping their failed states, yet continuing to vote the same.

Beto would be an absolute disaster and it isn't even close.
Agreed. Many people that support the idiot Beto lack reasoning capability.

It's actually much worse than that. Of the 15 only 5 were considered "undecided" as the rest were already either Beto or Abbott. So they are saying 4 of the 5 that they deemed "undecided" went for Beto but the math didn't actually even work according to their stats.
