If our hazing had gotten out, coaches would have lost their jobs. The world has changed so much.

We got popped with towels once or twice in a joking manner by a couple guys we were friends with on varsity when we got moved up and we did the same to guys we were friends with when they got moved up. That was the extent of anything done to players that could have been considered hazing. We all thought it was hilarious, even the guys getting popped.
I played football with a guy who went by "Uno". He got popped with a towel in the locker room when we were sophomores during two-a-days. You can figure out the rest.

Hazing = right of passage for the beloved Corps of cadets

High demographic area kids hazing = Worst thing ever done in the world.

Hazing across the board is wrong. Just pointing out the hypocrisy of the TA culture.

Ours was pretty harmless, usually just embarrassing pranks.

Like when a few seniors walked into the JV locker room after practice while everyone enjoying their post-practice Gatorade. Then telling us that they pissed in it.

This isn't reflected in this thread at all. What are you talking about?

What the hell is with the homoerotic hazing incidents? The worst thing we did in high school for hazing was make all the new varsity players put on their street clothes and walk through the showers (we were nice and told them to take off their shoes and belts so the wouldn't be ruined). Now, they're making them eat ass oreos?

The 09ers in Alamo Whites are always up to something ... and are used to getting away with most everything they do. I should know. I lived there for awhile. I'm a bit surprised that this event was publicized and that punishments were administered. Whoever reported it must have just moved into that area because he/she obviously didn't know the "rules of the road" in that neighborhood.

What's with the butt stuff in high school athletic hazing?

Is there something I don't understand or do these schools have a bunch of closeted dudes running things and nobody man enough to call them ***s for it?

edit: obviously didn't get down to HTownAg98's similar reply.

No kidding. I thought baseball players had the market on this kind of dewshbaggery.
I can't imagine a bunch of brothas from a hood school being down with this.

Did we go to the same school? I know a similar story of an "Uno" that was hung like a horse.

Disagree entirely with your last point.

When done properly, hazing is an effective means of instilling strength and resiliency among a group while increasing their overall connection between each other.

When you have peoples lives in your hand while you're calling a log, the last thing you want is someone panicking because they're in a stressful situation. That gets people killed.

Hazing in Bonfire at least is a necessary thing.

We had hazing in HS (private catholic school) in early 90s but it was mostly limited to dog piles, getting whipped with a towel, hiding clothes, etc. No ridiculous naked stuff or butt stuff. Every now and again a kid would get kicked out of the locker room in his jock strap or drawers and got embarrassed.

Everyone had a nickname that mainly came from a weakness that was found, even the "popular" kids had nicknames calling them out for how they looked or talked or something stupid they said once. Some took it as being picked on and others as a badge of pride (own your faults).

There were a few incidents where upper classman went too far and a kid got hurt in the dog pile, or a wedgie or towel whip broke skin. The consistent instigators (bullies) picking on the weak kids were normally suspended or expelled pretty quickly.

It will be interesting to see how far the AH punishment goes. They got a really nice newly rebuilt stadium that will go unused a couple games.

Wrong. There hasn't been any hazing in the Corps since it was done away with in 1912. Says so right in the
Yearbook.

Gotta keep the riffraff in line...

WTF...Peewee Herman was a waiter in Blues Brothers???

Every actor has a back story of waiting tables. Guy had to make a living before Big Adventure.

Pee Wee's stand up routine before he hit the big time had some adult themes. That was where I learned about show mirrors.
His sit down routine in theaters also had some adult themes...

We calling that a "theater" now?

Can't tell if serious. There has been zero hazing in the corps since 1912? Perhaps officially and condoned by the organization but if you really think there hasn't been hazing somewhat regularly since 1912, we should prob just not discuss bc we're so far apart on stance.

This goal to remove hazing is an effort to stifle a natural human tradition relating to rights of passage. I think the problem is that humanity went absolute nuts in the last 30 years and these ****ed up people started using what was once a right of passage as a means to bully and act out their twisted anger.

I agree with your first sentence, I don't agree with the second. Listen to some of the stories of the men who were at A&M in the 40's, 50's, and 60's.

Heights was down 21 players last night and travelled to Seguin to take on the Matadors.

Alamo Heights - 39
Seguin - 42

Seguin has a kid named John Jackson who scored most of these touchdowns, a real baller. Heights looked sloppy and had some guys out of their natural positions. Rittiman is supposed to be a good coach, but they were a mess last night

We had a football team hazing incident involving "butt stuff" at my Catholic high school in the early 90s. I don't think this is a new thing.

Wouldn't be a full-blown hazing incident unless high school players offered up lap dances to cheerleaders

https://www.foxnews.com/us/texas-high-school-hazing-incident-hot-sauce-lap-dances-sends-student-emergency-room

An alleged hazing incident at a Texas high school that sent one football player to the hospital with burn injuries has resulted in 21 students being suspended.

The Alamo Heights Police Department is investigating after 21 students were suspended at Alamo Heights High School near San Antonio, Texas stemming from a hazing incident that sent one student to the emergency room with skin burns to his lower body, KENS-TV reported this week.

The football players were reportedly initiating new players onto the varsity team as part of a school tradition that involved hot sauce, cookies, and lap dances.

"The senior boys did an initiation, where they went out to the baseball fields and made the younger players put cookies dipped in hot sauce between their butt cheeks," a source told KENS-TV. "Then, they had to race each other, and if any of the cookies fell out the person would have to eat it. They made them do this in an open space completely naked."

The source added that some players had hot sauce thrown at them and that some of the freshman were forced to strip down to their boxers and give lap dances to cheerleaders at the party.

"Last week, the District received multiple messages through our anonymous tip line regarding safety concerns and allegations of misconduct by some players on the football team," Alamo Heights ISD director of communications Julie Ann Matonis said in a statement. "The alleged incident did not take place on AHISD property nor was it during school hours. District administrators and coaches had no knowledge of any allegations prior to receiving the reports. The District immediately investigated the matter thoroughly and took appropriate action. Because of student confidentiality laws, the District is prohibited from sharing any additional information."

Local sports talk radio host Mike Taylor said on Wednesday that "almost the entire" team was punished for the incident receiving two game suspensions, in-house suspensions, and community service.

According to KENS-TV, some victims of the hazing incident will also be suspended.

"Nobody would ever want this to happen to their child," Kara Van De Kieft, a parent of junior high students in the district, told the outlet. "It is something that is a concern to me as a parent of somebody who will be going to the high school next year."

The Alamo Heights Independent School District did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Fox News Digital.
