I don't think Lightyear did badly because a woman gives another woman a quick peck in a scene where that isn't the focus at all. I think it's because it wasn't good or interesting. If they'd actually made it a parody of/homage to over the top 80s and 90s action movies it could have been really fun, but nobody needed a Buzz Lightyear movie that takes itself super seriously. Just such an unnecessary trip back to the well trying to cash in yet again on a 30 year old IP.

The negative pr of lightyear going woke was a huge factor why it did bad. Here in flyover country- that causes an immediate no from many moms and dads when thinking about going to a movie with their kids.
