Do mental situational drills.

I remember one time my home alarm went off at 3 am… I froze, had no idea what was going on, had nothing on me if something did go down, eventually I finally screamed gibberish to get out of my house… ultimately a phone line went down or something that caused the alarm to go off.

But after that I learned from it, and said ok next time - 1) put my eye glasses on 2) keep something (I don't own gun) by nightstand and grab it 3) stay calm and assess the situation.

Mental drills can at least have you somewhat prepared

Missouri is also a right to carry State. A CCL is not required to legally carry in MO for quite a few years. Missouri also passed a amendment in their state constitution that makes them a 2nd Amendment Sanctuary state which Texas has never done.
She did not need a CCL to legally carry in MO so I commend her for having the initiative to go get the CCL.
Texas would do well to adopt some pro 2nd Amendment laws that MO and some other states have already done.

That gun in your purse doesn't magically stop things like that from happening. Practice situational awareness as that will keep you out of more trouble than a gun. The gun is a tool to use once the violence begins. You need to recognize it coming and be able to deal with it until that time comes. And it happens fast.

If a man or what looks like a man assaults you fire off a couple in the balls and watch him/it drop to his knees. That way you kill two birds with one stone!
