Men can compartmentalize. Women cannot. Lower performance from one person (for whatever the reason) has a negative impact on all in the team.

Research grant please!

This. It's the fundamental difference between the sexes.

Men can fight like dogs, then have a beer.

Women tend to never forget a slight and hang on to it forever.

Blanket absolutes never work. I have worked with some men who are the biggest babies you would ever come across and some women who were ice queens. It depends. Hire the best person regardless of race and gender and the team is high performing.

I do agree with the general point and I think it is sports driven when kids are young. Sports teach roles, responsibilities, being a good teammate, when to lead and when to follow, all under a very pronounced hierarchy. The most successful women leaders I have come across, all played sports at the college level. Therefore, they are used to feedback regardless of delivery as a way to improve.

It is for this reason, my daughters are required to play a team sport. Don't care which one, but I don't think they will be equipped to compete and contribute in the work place without it.

Finally someone with an agreeable opinion. People here act like men and women are different species that are biologically hardwired to like different things. This isn't the case. Men and Women behavior differently because they are raised differently. Young boys mimic men and young girls mimic women. If you raise a man to act like a girl, he will act like a girl.

Party of science strikes again.

Absolutely incredible.

The biggest oppressors of women have always been, and will always be… other women. It gets even worse in an environment with men present.

Honestly the way y'all treat your "friends" is worse than I treat dudes that I don't like.

To expound a little, I think it is a great idea to find your daughters a sport or outdoor activity they love. And I wasn't dismissing the benefits of sports for what they teach.

It's the old nature/nurture argument, but I've come to believe it's about 70/30 nature. Our kid's personalities were evident even in the womb.

I work with a woman who is very good at her job, but God almighty does she hold grudges. She makes simple things much more difficult when she has to deal with someone that "crossed" her, even years earlier.

Crazy stuff.

Men snort, sniff, scratch, establish the pecking order and all good.

I hated the fight over the AC thermostat.

Your thermostat quote reminds me of a personal anecdote...

I was in a small office that included a female. She and I would get to the office pretty early, before everyone else, although at different times. I come in one Monday morning and the office is like 45 degrees. I'm like wtf. I hear her in her cubicle and I ask her about the temperature. She was all bundled up suffering in the cold . She says "oh no, I'm not touching that thermostat". I'm thinking, ok why not. So I go turn up the heat. A male co worker comes in later and I tell him about it at some point in the afternoon. He says oh yeah man, I made an innocuous comment about the temperature when she was in here before everyone and I think it offended her.

She got so offended that she'd rather suffer than change it because someone might make a comment. Bizarre.

Women have been in the workforce now for years, for the better, and that's not changing. If you don't like it, you and the rest of your 1776 Restoration Movement friends can go find an island somewhere and start your own society.

i appreciate you making this such an entertaining thread.

My wife tells me the same. She named them based on their personalities in the womb. I still want them to learn what it means to play your role on a team, and to feel what it is like to lose, etc.

(cliff notes: women don't watch the WNBA because they're too busy watching trashy reality TV in which women are absolutely horrible to one another)

The WNBA saw this post and decided to have the women act like trashy reality. It sorta worked.
