I have flown quite abit internationally. I have been put under house arrest in Canada and threaten with house arrest in Vietnam. It is the risk of international travels.

If you travel internationally it is highly recommended you read up on where you are going and be very aware of laws. different country's have different threshold of tolerance for various things.

Weed is not tolerated in the least bit in many country's. Brittany had convinced himself that he could get away with it if ever caught.

At their core liberals are spoiled brats. Regardless of their specific grievance they act no different than a toddler who can't have a cookie. This mindset leads them to breaking laws and customs in a nation that is very tolerant of different ideas. she incorrectly assumed that other nations would be equally tolerant and she was wrong. Am I enjoying her plight? Not particularly but I am enjoying a spoiled brat learning the hard way that mom and dad aren't such awful people.

I've been to Moscow. I knew where I was going and was EXTREMELY cognizant of following the law and not taking anything the least bit unnecessary along with me. We were warned to be cautious going through security because the authorities could pull people aside for anything they wanted to, so we practically held our breaths though the process. As expected, we had no issues.

Maybe it should not be that way, but it is. That is not my home country, so I have no right to expect them to capitulate to my whims.

That's exactly it. Brittany has been coddled since she first set foot on campus at Baylor and has been treated as if rules and consequences don't apply to her. She has openly insulted this country for it's unfair treatment while refusing to acknowledge she is the one benefiting from any unfair treatment. Now, Russia is refusing to coddle her and treating her as it would any other international visitor who violated their laws. She's getting exactly what she both deserves and asked for.

This is our fault. If we cared more about the WNBA, the league could pay its players as much as NBA players, in which case she wouldn't have had to go spend the off season in Russia making money and would have never been caught with drugs in the Moscow airport. Just another form of systemic misogyny.

How can you forget they were there when her excuse was she packed them "in a hurry". Then do you really believe her excuses of packed in a hurry and Covid recovery made her not realize she packed an envelope of vape drugs in her carry on? They are just throwing out every excuse to see what will stick.

At first she denied they were hers but then changed that story pretty fast as accusing Russia of planting drugs in a mailing envelope (addressed to herself?) in her carry on was a bad look.

She had every intention of smoking those in Russia after games for pain management. Just as she does in the US.

I'm going to sleep in the comforts of my home because I don't break drug laws in whatever location I happen to be in.

I don't know if I would classify most peoples reaction to joy but instead laughing at the irony of the situation.
Maybe, just maybe, if she hadn't made a big deal about the National Anthem (not just kneeling/crouching, but going as far as wanting the WNBA to stop playing it at games) then people might have a different opinion.

I just wish the liberals would show the same outrage at the situation in Chicago that leads to innocent bystanders, including young children and old folks, getting shot on a regular occurrence.

Bottom line, I don't give a crap about a person who has badmouthed the country in which they prospered and then finds themselves wanting/needing that countries help to get them out of a totally avoidable situation.

She is fortunate she didn't do this entering Singapore. Their drug laws make Russia's look like a speeding ticket.

I dislike Griner as a person a great deal. I think she is pretty terrible as someone who has benefited tremendously for simply being born with size and talent to live a very privileged life yet she has spent tremendous effort showing resentment and acting as though she is oppressed.

That said, she is an American citizen and deserves the protection of the government as any other American citizen being held in a foreign country deserves. If there is a way to get her released within reason I would hope we would do what we can to help her just as I would hope we would do that for Joe Blow. I do not think we should trade a significant criminal who caused real harm to the US to get her back because we should not consider that action unless it is someone who was acting in the interest of the US and was imprisoned. An example would be Gary Powers who was shot down on a mission for the military and we traded other significant assets for him. If there is a comparable celebrity that did something stupid and was busted in the US we want to release for Griner I'm ok with that but certainly not an arms dealer.

The thing that does stick in my craw though is I have no doubt that if it was a conservative celeb that Biden and the MSM would let them rot, hell they might ask for a harsher sentence.

I know it isn't an either/or, but I'd rather Biden work on getting this woman out.

Her imprisonment is the result of habitual offender laws that toss people away for life for a third strike.

But the third offense that out her in prison for life is she had a broken tail light that she was pulled over for and was found to be in possession of under 2 oz of weed.
