When asked directly about Roe he called it "settled case law" and referred to it as confirmed by "precedent on precedent".

Regardless of where you personally stand on Roe, you can't deny that he lied about where he stood, while answering questions under oath.

He basically stopped just short of swearing on his mother's grave that he wouldn't overturn Roe when he knew that's exactly what he was going to help others do.

I deny he lied. He gave a standard judicial answer.

That's the funny thing about such laws...err precedents....the are settled until they aren't.

Kavanaugh said roe was entitled to respect of the principle of stare decisis. The entire subsection (b) of the opinion is respecting stare decisis. If the opinion had not went through respecting the principles of stare decicis, you could say he lied. But it did. Which is exactly what he said it required.

"Senator, I said that it is settled as a precedent of the Supreme Court, entitled the respect under principles of stare decisis."

Meh, precedent gets overturned by later courts with some frequency. Seems like it was Alito pushing the reversal of the widely-considered bad ruling that upheld Roe. Kavanaugh maybe gave it the consideration of stare decisis but agreed with Alito when Kav read the Constitution and didn't see anything about abortion in it and realized it was not a federal issue.

Aggievaulter: even factcheck.org says kav (and others) didn't lie. Keep in mind an entire segment of society that knows about stare decisis etc heard Kav and knew exactly what he said and didn't say regarding upholding Roe
