45 year old DeSantis is a NO BRAINER vs a 78 yr old Trump, imo.

Trump is a hard NO for me.

I'm sorry Trump fanbois. Appreciate the start of the movement, but an adult needs to move it forward.

Im scared Trump's ego and money won't let him just sit it out. We have him to thank for Biden in office now (yes there was voter fraud but Trump's own rhetoric killed his chances). DeSantis stands a much better chance of being elected.

I will absolutely vote for any R candidate and loved the Donalds America first policy, but for those yipping it up for Trump.....

Other than sticking it to and watching the world-class meltdowns of the left, exactly how would Trump be a better President than Desantis? You have to know the press and machine will be against both of them but much more so to Trump since he absolutely loves to needle them. This is fun and very entertaining and all, but at the current time in our history, we do not have the time for this. We REALLY don't have time for it as our nation is in peril with attacks coming from the outside and inside.

Please explain.

Because if you throw Trump away now and leave 4 years of MAGA on the table, you are leaving 2032 uncertain as well as running the very real risk of fracturing the base beyond recovery, as opposed to having a plan through 2036. 12 > 8.

Right now, DeSantis is the only apparent successor to the Trump America First philosophy in the wings. Having the two most popular figures in the movement destroy each other in a political campaign is just not smart. Best to use what we have and get our ducks in a row for as long as possible; that means getting Trump to serve his second term and then moving to DeSantis.

it's impossible for anyone to answer that question honestly.

which is why the AlwaysTrumpers are just as harmful as the NeverTrumpers.

it evinces an inability to think critically on issues of import to the future of the entire Republic.

I'll even put DeSantis ahead of Cruz because of his executive experience.

Now, if someone can convince Trump to play "kingmaker" instead of let his ego interfere with what's best for our nation.

I would obviously be okay with Trump or DeSantis over any other Dem nominee, but I worry about the tendency of Trump to villainize ANYONE he is running against (2016 Republican primaries as exhibit A). And the way some people (ahem, I'm looking at you) treat Trump like the second coming, he could very easily find a way to beat down the best way for conservatives to win in the future before they ever face a Democrat opponent.

WILL NEVER HAPPEN

my one prayer is that Trump will see DeSantis start to beat him in the polls..

thus forcing Trump to drop out for "health reasons" avoiding a kill shot to his ego.

Latest Gallup poll showed 71% of likely voters do not want Biden to run again.
61% do not want Trump to run.

A Trump nomination is about the only way the Republicans can lose.

Don't know how you can possibly count on DeSantis even getting a shot after another 4 year Trump term. In the past 30 years, we have flipped from Republican to Democrat to Republican to Democrat to Republican to Democrat. Not having 2 presidents in the row from the same party.

The pendulum is swinging even more wildly than ever before. If we see President Trump in 2024, I think we see President AOC in 2028. I'd rather see 8 years of DeSantis before letting the Dems back in control.

Pierre Delecto. Not a good source for conservative takes/analyses.

I have only skimmed this thread, have our CM's come out and said why they would be very concerned about voting for DeSantis yet, or is that going to be saved for much later?

Even when I vote for DeSantis, I am tempted to troll post on here on election day, just to watch F16 go bananas.

The truth is, most/many of us who post on this forum know you're a CM/troll, and I am sure you will at some point come up with a reason not to vote for DeSantis if he does become the nominee. I have zero doubt you will be pulling the lever for Warnock in November as well.

The job is too taxing for anybody in their 80s. Joe Biden is low energy and a lot of people would vote DeSantis just for being younger.

Nice part about trump Desantis presidency is we likely see more voter reform that helps stifle cheating and Dems.

The young stars of the dem party are morons and too hard left.

Lastly there is likely going to be a legit war fought (not a fake money laundering grift like the Ukraine War).

If we get Desantis or trump to weather that storm we see 8 years of Desantis after trump.

Dems may fold their party after the AOC candidate if she gets elected.

Hershel Walker doesn't sound like the brightest, but I'm gonna vote for him. It's hard to believe there wasn't a better candidate out there. But maybe he'll catch enough of the AA vote to pull it off.

DeSantis may be Trumpy in notable respects, but, importantly, he doesn't exhibit any of Trump's character flaws.

He is tough on reporters, but he hasn't engaged in any taunting or gratuitous insults.

He is a sharp political player, which isn't unusual of powerful governors, but isn't fundamentally driven by personal vendettas.

He hasn't governed via tweet, with seat-of-the-pants edicts quickly reversed or forgotten when he's talked out of them.

He is a voracious consumer of information and isn't prone to ill-informed riffs.

He hasn't shown a chronic inability to distinguish between his personal interest and the public interest.

He pays close attention to his voters, but is willing to pursue policies that aren't driven by his base, such as higher teacher pay and robust environmental protection.

And, of course, he has never once lost an election to Joe Biden, and cast about for any reason to deny the result out of ego and pique.

In all the ways that should matter, in short, DeSantis is better than Trump, and compared to the former president, he is reassuringly normal.
