Most definitely have changed. The entry level prices for those Carnival cruises back in the Kathy Lee days adjusted for inflation are WAY higher in todays $$ than what is being charged today. Thus why we can't have nice things.

I just did a week cruise on Royal Caribbean. There were a couple of times I could envision a scuffle breaking out (but nothing like this). One was in the solarium where this group of four urbanites were LOUD and cussing up a storm (m'fer this, and m'fer that). The Solarium is supposed to be the quieter, no kids, chill area for people to lounge at during the day at sea. You could tell people were getting annoyed with the group, but luckily it was early and the drinking hadn't ramped up yet.

The other place I thought it might go down was in the casino. Had a couple of guys at the craps table getting really, really mouthy, particularly to the dealers working the table.

This was only my second cruise. First was a 3-day Royal Caribbean about 15 years ago that seemed much more chill.

I think at this point the only cruises I'm interested in going forward would be an Alaskan, a Viking European River Cruise, or maybe a Hawaiian Islands cruise of some type.

Wow, I've been on a couple cruises... I don't remember "all-out, hour-long brawl" being on the list of things to do. This must have been one of those "excursions" you have to pay extra for. This brawl is pretty intrigueing, but I probably would have gone with scuba diving or a helicopter ride... Maybe a guided ATV trip.

Both the pound-to-person and tattoo-to-person ratios are very high on Carinal compared to the other cruise lines.

A friend of mine is a big Cruiser who gambles a bit in the Casinos on the ships. He limits his gambling to about $200 in losses per trip, a lot of times he breaks even or comes close. So not a valuable casino "High Roller".

Since the reopening of the cruise industry he has gotten so many offers of super cheap cruises it is unbelievable. Also, lots of ship board and casino credits are offered. A couple of months ago he went on 3 different cruises in 3 weeks. He said it was almost cheaper than staying home. I think that he has gone on about 10-12 cruises in the last year.

The deals he is being offered explains a lot about the current clientele that the cruise ships are attracting. They are just trying to get people back to cruising. They are hoping that they can get the Gamblers to come drop some money to make up for the discount prices. The cruise industry has been very badly hurt by these shutdowns. I am amazed that many even survived.

I just recently moved from an apartment complex where conflict like that happened every week. It is amaizibg that these are folks that have a multi generation in the USA and still behave in a feral like manner.

Yeah, I won't be doing a Viking River cruise either. Parents did that a few years ago and it was the worst vacation they ever took.

The GD River literally dried up and they had to get out at certain points and be trucked to their next point where there was enough water and switch boats.

No thanks. I'll stick to vacations that do not entrap me with low class humans and that can leverage the primary resource that is the point of the trip.

Each week is a new set of married contestant from different cultures. As an example, on set from caribbean, one from the pacific rim, another from West Texas, maybe Amish or Morman.
