Most of America doesn't view abortion as black and white and tends to agree with much or all of Joe Burrow's post.

A fantastic move by state GOP legislators would be to handle this the right way and work on legitimate limited reasons for abortion in states they have full legislative control of.

But then again we're talking about state Republicans here so they'll **** it all up and make midterms much closer than it should be so who am I kidding.

Good for them. NFL players love abortions. Gets them off the hook with a paycheck and an nda.

Drew Brees has constantly been described as literally one of the most upstanding human beings in all of sports. Just do a quick Google on how much money and effort he has put into New Orleans.

If you think he is some sort of cretin, me thinks you may need to turn the mirror on yourself.

Ummmmm most pro life laws have exceptions for every single one of those circumstances.

So why is he posting as if those exceptions do not exist?

He is also Pro-Felicia who just doesn't want the inconvenience of a kid and makes up about 99.x% of abortions

Appeal to the extremes is the pro abortions crutch.

That said, while I don't necessarily agree with rape/incest exemptions, I'd compromise on abortions for rape, incest and life of the mother.

It was awesome when he put that guys name on his helmet

All the guy had to do to get his name on drew Brees' helmet was to go after his own children with a knife immediately after he sexually assaulted their mother

Brees is definitely good bull

Actually it's closer to 1.5% for the Big 3 (Rape, Incest, Life of the Mother).

I don't expect a guy like Burrow to be some expert on policy or to read Supreme Court decisions to truly understand them. The problem is he felt the need to talk about them when what he is saying is easily refuted which makes him an idiot.

I would think most states outlaw abortion because the majority believe that abortion is murder.

Even if it was rape or incest...isn't that STILL murder? So, we're okay killing unborn babies sometime, just not all the time?

I can maybe see something for medical life or death of the mother, but aside from that, it's either murder or it isn't.

Brees said this:

Quote:

"I will never agree with anybody disrespecting the flag of the United States of America or our country," Brees said. "Let me just tell what I see or what I feel when the national anthem is played and when I look at the flag of the United States. I envision my two grandfathers, who fought for this country during World War II, one in the Army and one in the Marine Corp. Both risking their lives to protect our country and to try to make our country and this world a better place. So every time I stand with my hand over my heart looking at that flag and singing the national anthem, that's what I think about. And in many cases, that brings me to tears, thinking about all that has been sacrificed. Not just those in the military, but for that matter, those throughout the civil rights movements of the '60s, and all that has been endured by so many people up until this point. And is everything right with our country right now? No, it is not. We still have a long way to go. But I think what you do by standing there and showing respect to the flag with your hand over your heart, is it shows unity. It shows that we are all in this together, we can all do better and that we are all part of the solution."

Totally legitimate and fair.

Then totally folded with this:

Quote:

"I know there's not much that I could say that would make things any better right now," Brees said in the video. "But I just want you to see in my eyes how sorry I am for the comments that I made yesterday. I know they hurt many people, especially friends, teammates, former teammates, loved ones, people that I care and respect deeply."

Brees who struck a nerve with his comments on Wednesday about how kneeling during the national anthem is "disrespecting the flag" said it was never his intention to be hurtful.

"I wish I would have laid out what was on my heart in regards to the George Floyd murder, Ahmaud Arbery, the years and years of social injustice, police brutality and the need for so much reform and change in regards to legislation and so many other things to bring equality to our black communities," Brees said.

"I'm sorry, and I will do better, and I will be part of the solution. And I am your ally. I know no words will do that justice, that's going to have to be earned."

He may have eventually caved but let's not pretend to be stupid, it's clear what his feelings are/were. Basically being forced to verbalize otherwise doesn't change that.

Fair point though.

I didn't see any Burrow interviews until he made it to the draft process, but I don't think there's been a top tier quarterback drafted that I've more quickly thought "that kid is not that bright" than Burrow.

Theres a reason why DeSantis is waiting till after midterms for special session. This issue is a loser for them, if it wasn't an abysmal economy they'd be in trouble.

Not going to put words in your mouth but you're seriously not implying the only major problem we have right now is economic, right?

You don't get low 30's approval ratings from the economy alone.

If you do not think that the pressure on the up and comers with unlimited potential to be placed on the PCL (potential cancel list) is not off the charts, one would be crazy to doubt it. I'd be every up and comer has a small army ready to approach them with the max pressure at the right time.

Ummmm yeah, I think it's a bit more of an inflation issue than student loans.

It's just an example, but student loan forgiveness isn't even as popular as the left would lead you to believe. Turns out, working class people don't want to bail out worthless degrees for upper-class kids with their tax dollars. The problem is the government being in the college loan business in the first place.

No. You misread my post. The entire response was in the context of the economy. To pretend that student loan forgiveness plays some major role in Biden's economic approval right now is just..... delusional. Sorry.

But, if you'd like I'd be happy to remind you of the following:

  • Border crisis/record number of illegal crossings and rising
  • Baby formula shortage
  • Sending Ukraine $50bn+ when there are millions struggling here
  • Rising crime in virtually every major city
  • Gas at record prices
  • Afghanistan withdrawal debacle
  • Nonsensical COVID mandates
  • Parents rights/critical race theory

The list goes on....
