I go in on grand opening day to check things out and it immediately jumps out at me that every single worker looked like they just got of the bluebird bus from Guatemala. They spoke English to get the point across. They spoke Spanish between each other.

For two weeks they had help wanted sighs. There wasn't a single black, white or brown teenager from high school working.

So all of these illegal folks. Do they get placed en mass by a company? There is no was that 5 guys location had 2 weeks of job interviews and hired every Guatemalan in Huntsville.

We will never win this battle of protecting the border and controlling who enter the USA.

Five guys sucks.

You are assuming a whole heck of a lot in this post.

I love living in Cypress. Since moving from the city, I have noticed a night and day difference in quality of service at local establishments and fast food places. It's largely high school kids of all ethnicities and socioeconomic levels who are super polite and want to do a good job and have other career aspirations aside from flipping burgers and supplementing their welfare stipends for life. The Whatabuger near my house is run like a dadgum Chick Fil A.

Seems like the older siblings of my son's friends think they are above fast food.
Some will deign to be servers in sit down restaurants but they mostly work in small shops, walking dogs, and grocery stores

I went in there the other day and they gettin' high as a cats back. They proud of them burgers.

I wouldn't want my daughters working fast food - they'd be surrounded by older men and women who are ... less civilized. And their customers would be even less so. I'd worry about their safety even in day hours, and risks from their coworkers.

I wouldn't mind them working a job at a small boutique, grocery store, ice cream shop, etc.

In HS I worked my way up from sacker to stocker to cashier to produce / meat market at the local grocery in cypress (late 90s) and would often close up the store at 11p / midnight. We had a few weirdos every now and again but nothing like there is today.

Chick fil a consistently seems to have clean cut young people working there. In n Out too

My 16 year old started working at Home Depot a couple weeks ago. My 13 year old works home and ranch projects for me and busts his ass out in the heat. They do after getting out the door every morning for summer sports cams by 7:15 AM on summer break. Not all teens are lazy, in fact, I've definitely seen an upswing in privileged teens working as of late. May be gas prices but my kids both want a job.

Whataburger is still good I agree.

Five Guys doesn't suck, it's just over priced. The wife and I spent a week in France and hit the Five Guys at Charles de Gaulle before catching the train back to London and it was probably the best burgers we had in our lives, for obvious reasons

Same here. I have three daughters 18-18-16 and all three work very hard, 2 servers and a hostess. Usually 20-30 hours a week plus full time school. And right now they are making between 20-25/hr when you include their tips.

Also you might not see many hard working intelligent teens in fast food because frankly they can get better jobs right now.

Can we keep the Guatemalans that are willing to work & send the lazy American welfare rats to Guatemala?

OP must have either never worked in a restaurant or never opened his eyes while in a restaurant. Hispanics are the main cooks at ANY restaurant in America from the East Coast to the West Coast. Sounds like businesses in NY around the beginning of the 20th century, but Italian was being spoken. At least some areas had the sense to keep them out with "No Italians and No Catholics" signs. Don't get me started on the Irish.

So much this. We've got way too many Americans, of all races, that keep from dying because of the government. My 16 year old son started working at the local 5 Guys two weeks ago. Most of the staff are 18-25 years old of all ethnicities. No illegals as far as he can tell. But it is clear they are desperate for labor. He worked 41 hours his first full week.

I live in Overland Park, KS and all of the Dairy Wueens here are staffed by Indians (country, not the casino owners).
