In my vast experience at fast food joints, the staff typically reflects the manager or owner.

If you have an Indian owner, you get an all-Indian staff. Latino manager? Latino staff.

The only people who worry about diversity in hiring are white progressives.

The old days of fresh-faced high school kids in their letter jackets sacking your groceries and serving your fries are long, long gone. Those jobs are now worked by immigrants who are trying to support four kids on minimum wage.

I used to think Whataburger was way better than In N Out. I've heard that In N Out is another level in California, too. I've also heard that Whataburgers outside of Texas are awful.

Ever since Whataburger was bought by that Chicago investment group, the quality has suffered. I don't want to wait 20 minutes for a cold burger. In N Out runs their drive thru like Chick Fil A, and my food is hot when I get it.

My high school summer jobs were working at a golf course rounding up carts and working at an oil change place, always above minimum wage. Intentionally avoided fast food jobs.

My son applied at a local restaurant just down the street from us but never got a call back. He then applied and got a job at Nordstorms for the summer. They were even ok with him heading off to college in 6 months.

Interesting side note: both In & Out and CFA are owned 1) by families and 2) are openly Christian to their employees and the public.

Happy to report the nearest Five Guys Burger is over an hour drive away.

I am from three generations of family living on the Mexican border.

I have worked at pizza, hamburger and as a bagger in high school. Yes all while living on the border.

And yes these folks were from Guatemala.

And yes high school teenagers work at all of the other fast food places here in Huntsville. If they have work visa……then perfect.

With the 1 million folks that have made it into the USA there is a good probability these folks were some of them.

Why didn't your friend go have a 'talk' with that manager? Or contact the franchise owner? You think an owner wants sexual harassment going on in his restaurant?

I don't know of many fathers who would tolerate a 30+ year old man bringing their 17 year old daughter a teddy bear, especially when there is a boss-employee power imbalance going on.
