Wait until you see the Samsung Fab they're starting on up in Taylor. They built a huge pad of housing trailers so they can keep contractors working on site 24/7. It's a huge block of area, seems like a square mile.

I believe it's technically Del Valle and Elon has done more for the area than all the progressive policymakers in Austin.

SE Travis County is majority Latino. The City of Austin annexed the high value areas of Del Valle, like COTA, and intentionally left the less valuable areas to the other jurisdictions. They essentially exploited the Latino community to fund central Austin. The Giga Factory is changing that dynamic and market forces are finally developing the area.

Oh if we're into comparing buildings now, you should see the fab TSMC is building off of I17 just south on Anthem out here in the Phoenix area.

I don't know if this has been touched on yet...but the toll way corridor...from essentially Jarrell to seguin has way more affordable housing opportunities than anything towards the NW...young college educated...trying to start young families...affordability...

Businesses don't want to come to San Antonio because they're going to have to deal with corruption and red tape on par with Mexico.

They come to Austin because they get the progressive lip service but don't have to worry about finding their child's body in their trunk.

What a crock of ***** It's obvious you love playing the tough guy role but you don't know *****

Tough guy role? Whose acting tough? I was simply making an observation. Sorry if I hurt your feelings, cupcake

Every "loop" always results in more development, inside and outside. I did several real estate development deals in Austin and surrounding area in the 90s. Once a homebuilder is interested, the commercial people start looking for the high traffic areas to scoop up and resale or rent.

I was driving around with Nash Phillips looking at property. He was a hoot and a half.

Dallas and Houston are black person corruption and idiocy.

Austin is white people of the same.

San Antonio is Hispanic people of the same.

That's it. That's my post.

And El Paso? Don't nobody ever think about El Paso?
Why would anyone want to live in New Mexico?

True. It is essentially what Pflugerville, Round Rock, Leander, Buda, Kyle, etc, were 20 years ago. Miles and miles of cow **** pasture being turned in to lower cost suburbs. Everything west, especially NW has gone California level crazy. Our house on the west side of Georgetown has double in assessment since 2016.

It would be one thing if it was Ag.

This is going to be a square mile of gigantic buildings inthe middle of what was once corn fields.

Have you followed who the leaders of San Antonio have been over the years … there is a reason big companies avoid San Antonio at al cost … it also boggles my mind why they would attempt to move to Austin .. there leadership may now be worse than San Antonio

If you look at all the big industry around Houston, most of it is in the outlying cities, not in Houston itsef

What I was alluding to was that corn fields even half that acreage are hard to find in east Travis County.

You said San Antonians basically live in Mexico City, have you ever been to Mexico or the corrupt parts. There is crime here no doubt, but I have never worried about being kidnapped and held for ransom. Hispanics don't equal cartel

Yeah, the county vacated some roads and easements because Samsung bought all the property on both sides. A good portion of cR 401 and CR 404. (I've worked on the design of the temporary communications and data network for the site, so have had a look at some of it. Same with the Gigafactory, actually)

Going off memory of the proposed site layout, I used Maps to roughly estimate the area: about 1.5 square miles.

As much as I love San Antonio, no one wants to live there. Companies come to Austin because this is where the talent is. Kids graduate from tu and A&M with degrees in Computer Science and are banking cash here in Austin.

Between Meta's new Data center, Samsung's new factory, Tesla continuing to expand, and Facebook moving in the new tallest building in Austin downtown, the Austin area is bringing in a bunch of jobs for the next 2-3 years. Should help protect property prices for the inevitable recession.
