At a minimum I expect Democrats to be complaining about Cruz actually getting something done other than grandiose speeches. I like Cruz, but come on, these rants at hearings are nothing but show. I would like to see him actually grill someone like a competent lawyer instead of ranting and raving. Rand Paul has been much more effective without all the theater.

Another thing that concerns me about Cruz is the fact that his neighbors sold him out during the ice storm. It says to me that he's weak and doesn't wield much power.

The issue may be that some of these laws were never repealed; they're still on the books. If a court ruling that rendered those laws void goes down, those laws are theoretically live again. I don't think interracial marriage would be an issue, but gay marriage could very well be.

I stated I don't think there would be one with interracial marriage. Gay marriage would be another matter altogether.

Obergefell relied on the 14th amendment, Due Process clause, and Equal Protections clause, not RvW.

Gay marriage is not going away.

Any attempt to restrict interracial marriage would run smack into Obergefell, too.

I will refer to the OP regarding any legitimacy of any of these arguments about marriage restrictions.

I would assume that Cruz knows more about constitutional law than me, so I defer to him.

Basically, the bill sucks, thanks to Dems, but it is better to pass it right now than not to.

There are plenty of people out there that rightfully support Ukraine fighting for independence from Russia.

I'm glad La Fayette had our backs 250 years ago, for example.
