No. She currently doesn't have to because crossover voting can happen in the primary. And lots of non Republicans would vote for her over the Trump endorsed candidate come August, because a Democrat cannot win in November. So go with the candidate that calls out Trump and the rest of the Republican leadership that could win

In WY you have to register with the party to vote in that party's primary, and Cheney knows that in order to win she will need Dems and independents to change their party registration. That's actually not a bad idea, since a single seat in a rural state isn't likely to affect the balance of power. It's like removing a cancer.
