I hope Joe Rogan spends some time on this. It would be extremely popular for him to do what he did for the GW issue a few weeks ago. Have a pro abortion person on and talk it out for three hours, then have an anti abortion person on and talk it out for three hours. I hope he is willing to face the backlash for that though.

I'm not sure if that is the whole document, but I can't believe it did not lead with how horrible the leak was and that such illegal actions threaten to undermine the court and its workings.

OK, I can believe it.
That's how you know it was a Dem political operative that leaked it and that Biden thinks the Dems will benefit from it in some way.

Condoms are cheaper than abortion. Saying "no" is free.

Even the poorest and dumbest out there realize unprotected sex leads to babies. If abortion is taken away, they will switch birth control methods.

I have no idea why you persist with the assertion that people cannot change behavior

You were a teenager? Do you remember what it was like? Dumb and full of hormones.
I remember not getting anyone pregnant.
I remember friends who got pregnant and it wound up not being the end of the world that the culture at the time and today's culture would tell you it is.

It wasn't easy for them. Making a living and providing for the child was harder for them. But their was a lot of joy and by the time I had kids their kids were fully grown.

But all children should be cherished. Not murdered because they inconvenience someone. That is the worship Moloch and it is the same today as it was 3000 years ago when they would sacrifice children at the altar of Moloch.

https://carm.org/miscellaneous-topics/moloch-the-ancient-pagan-god-of-child-sacrifice/

This is Old Testament sin folks. When I first read the Bibles telling's of what Moloch worshipers would do I realized that in 3000+ years we have really not progressed as a society. How sad is that?

Maybe if we can stop sacrificing our babies it might be a start?

My sister got knocked up her freshman year and decided to keep the baby. It was really hard for a couple years. The whole family helped pitch in while she worked and finished school.

She now has a great family, a husband, four kids (one step), is financially successful, and her baby girl just got a full ride to college to become a nurse.

It was hard, but life is hard. It was by no means the end of the world and my life would have been less fullfilled by not having that little girl in it.

This is absurd. No judge should have a red line they cannot cross because of precedent.

Precedent is wholly overrated and has been proved as much by hundreds of cases that have overturned existing law.

Going forward, I hope nominees no longer answer senators questions with some predetermined "it's the law, and that's what I consider it to be" sort of answer and instead answer it "it depends on the merits of the case and precedent may or may not be pertinent"

Honest questions: Would she have kept the baby if she didnt have the support system of a "whole family" and the opportunity to work and finish school? If your parents would have pushed her away, and did not support her, would she have chosen differently?

The most complex cases, which are usually also the most controversial, end up being released on the last day of the term, which is usually in June, but on occasion can run into July.

The Court says they don't hold these cases on purpose until the end, just that ones like this take so long to write, revise, and get enough justices to agree on the final majority opinion. They also have to give any dissenting judges time to write their opinions.

It's even long enough to start on a birth control regimen in case you don't have one in place. Imagine taking proactive steps to prevent pregnancy because you can anticipate 1 of your 10 family planning options might become less convenient.

Also a long time to try and intimidate just one judge to change their opinion. Less likely this would have leaked if the current score wasn't 5-4.

No justice on the Court is oblivious to the blowback of overturning Roe.

Very much doubt that intimidation would have any effect. If anything, it may only further cement positions.

I assume that Roberts not writing this opinion means he was not in the majority. Alito, Trump appointees and Thomas are the 5.

Good. A little bloodshed would light this candle and we could get started on the 2nd civil war.

I started a thread when the leak came out that Roberts was not authoring the opinion that it was likely a 5-4 decision and Roberts was not in the majority. That would mean Thomas as the senior justice in the majority assigning who would write for the majority. I thought Thomas would want it for himself so surprised it was Alito.

Yes. The decision wasn't made because of the support structure. In fact, some family members thought she should have had an abortion.

On the idea of support structures are only within families is silly. There are childcare services at universities now-a-days. Many have discounted and free tuition for single parents. There are student loans, church programs, and pro-life movement has created thousands of support centers for mothers and children who choose not to abort. There is far more support outside of the family than there has ever been.

We don't live in 1979 anymore.

FWIW, since the Dems control the levers of government, does anyone here believe the dems had one of the intelligence agencies spy on the judges, and/or the interns?

Obama did it when the CIA spied on all Congressmen, which I'm sure was Republican Congressmen, or Dems with ethics. Since the Hill and the White House are filled with Obama retreads, I'm sure the wagons were circled as far back as November of '21 and saved this for a rainy day.

How would this play out if a spy agency did this? I can't imagine the truth ever being found, because I'm pretty sure they'll find the intern/judge who released this information in February.
