If by 8 years of killing their own people you mean fighting a civil war against a Russian backed insurgency, then yes, we agree.

It's not hard to believe. This is war and there are people on both sides who will shoot first and ask questions later, or will put mines in places they know civilians might go by.

Post the link and let people read it for themselves. Go ahead. Oh, never mind, I'll do it. Here's a summary which links the report.

https://news.un.org/en/story/2016/07/534392-un-report-finds-impunity-killings-remains-rampant-ukraine-conflict

By the third paragraph we find:

"Covering the period from January 2014 to May 2016, the report states that the killings are being "fuelled by the inflow of foreign fighters and weapons from the Russian Federation." It concluded that no responsibility has been taken for any civilian deaths caused by the conduct of hostilities, and that some of the killings may amount to war crimes and/or crimes against humanity."

It's far from the repudiation of Ukraine and exoneration of Russia that our disingenuous friend "The Debt" represents it as. There's a reason he never links it.

Right, in Comrade Debt's mind only Russia is allowed to murder Ukrainian citizens.

Now you are just being a liar. I absolutely linked it in OUR discussion where you demanded evidence of atrocities by Azov et al.

You, like the MSM, thrive in ignorance of your "audience." Birds of a feather...

I think I understand the audience quite well. It's an audience that would like access to the actual information so that they can come to their own determination.

And I didn't lie. You didn't link the summary or the report in this thread. If you're going to reference it then link it when you reference it. You linked it once a few weeks back and then stopped once I pointed out that you weren't fully and accurately representing its conclusions.

You're welcome sweetums.

I don't think any reasonable person can truly doubt that Azov is a bad group of people and that Ukrainian soldiers have likely committed war crimes over the last eight years.

Where you lose me is in this complete denial that Russia is the prime aggressor here. Russia has a long history under the Putin and Medvedev regimes of targeting civilian populations and have no qualms in destroying entire cities.

They faked a terrorist attack against their own country to justify the need to go to war in Chechnya. They leveled Grozny, they leveled Aleppo, they leveled Mariupol. When they invaded Ukraine the first time in 2014, they shot down a civilian airliner.

They have earned no benefit of the doubt.

You forgot about the unproven but highly suspect downing of the aircraft transporting the Polish Presidential delegation in Russia (and death of all aboard).

Are you going to link to that report again where Russian soldiers pulled out all of the teeth of the Azov guy?

Edit, just for full disclosure, here is the report with the angry dentists. Same commission just different dates. Page 19

Russia doesn't do genocide. It's just a horrible coincidence that every time they fight a war the other side decides to kill, torture, and rape all its own civilians.

I'm not sure if this guy has a real beef, or just trolling the board for giggles, but it is fun to call him out.

He claims he's generational Texan, which I guess wouldn't surprise me, as we do have a pretty strong eastern European contingent in central Texas.

I think he just hates Ukrainians, and hates to see people cheer for them. If he's not a troll, it probably has something to do with his family / ancestors.

Whatever.

It's all Russian propaganda he pushes, whether he believes it or not.

I was actually interested to hear the report from Patrick Lancaster as I do think it's important get all sides of a particular conflict. We have at times in our history backed the wrong people. More often than not however, you realize your gut about a certain topic was right all along.
