being a brand-new league with few recognizable names one would hope that admission will be close to zero so the stands just might fill up!
Professional softball is coming to Davis Diamond.
The Athletes Unlimited Softball League (AUSL) is set to announce that the 2026 AUSL Championship will be played at one of the sport's premier venues in Davis Diamond.
An official AUSL announcement is expected later on Thursday.
It’s possible that four professional games will be played at Texas A&M’s Davis Diamond this summer.
A play-in game will take place on Thursday, July 23, while the championship series begins on Saturday, July 25. Game 1 of the three-game set will air nationally on ABC, marking the first professional softball game to be broadcast on network television. All other games will air on ESPN.
Expanding from four teams to six this past year, the AUSL changed its playoff format to a play-in game between the No. 2 and No. 3 seeds, with the No. 1 team earning a bye into the best-of-three championship.
Opening Day for the AUSL’s second season is set for June 9. The Utah Talons won the league’s inaugural title, defeating the Chicago Bandits in a best-of-three championship series.
It’s possible we could see a few Aggies take the field at Davis that weekend.
Two-time All-American Tori Vidales is currently an infielder for the Portland Cascade after setting school records in runs scored (198), RBI (219) and ranking second in home runs (65).
More recently, Emiley Kennedy was drafted seventh overall by the Bandits in 2025 and will pitch her second season of professional softball in 2026 after earning All-American honors in 2024 and All-SEC accolades in 2025.
Jami Lobpries, who helped lead the Aggies to three Big 12 Championships, four NCAA Tournament appearances, three trips to the Super Regionals, and back-to-back trips to the Women's College World Series, is the General Manager for the Cascade.
More information to come.
