The CCP has been Spewing out bullcrap propaganda for 2 years about how their system is the best and achieved the absolute best CoVID results and filled all their citizens minds with misinformation and delusions.

They believe lockdowns can and do work, and can be effective. They believe CoVID is a substantial danger that justifies extreme measures. They believe their crappy vaccines work. They believe most animals spread the disease (they might, but not nearly so much as humans), they believe the stupid masks are highly effective, etc. they have bern promised the party has it all under control with best practices.

The party can't afford to be seen as utterly wrong and utterly incompetent on every level so blatantly. They need to make excuses to double down on the propaganda and keep the people confused. What better time to roll back to a little more fundamentalist Mao/Xi and eliminate the decadent and wasteful western practice of keeping pets for personal companionship. They need to cut demand for pet food to make more people food, and they need something to blame CoVID spread on.

I like cats, but I'm not going to criticize what they do with what they consider nuisance animals in their country. Just because you can domesticate doesn't mean that ****hole countries don't look at it as a source of food.

I've walked through the streets in Korea and seen skinned dogs hung up in the windows of butcher shops. Their country. Don't care.

If they want to kill them for food, have at it. Gathering these animals in that manner is brutal though. I don't really wave away cruelty with "well cruelty is your culture, so whatever man"

I don't disagree, but the issue is the mindset for cruelty in one translates to the other. It is an underlying lack of humanity and lack of value for any kind of life. One of the reasons a red flag for future serial killers is animal cruelty

I will never unsee the time a Chinese man lightly cut around the neck of a small dog and then in one quick motion pulled off all the skin on its head. Like taking a sock off. The dog stood there just shaking in shock, unable to blink. It was then tossed into a pile of other skinned dogs, still alive, still shaking, still unable to process what was happening to it. He just turned around grabbed the next dog like it was nothing.
