Romney is a bought and paid for Senator from Utah simply because he is a Mormon who was endorsed by the top church leadership in a state where the majority are also Mormons. The church is insular and protective of its own and runs its affairs in the classic style of any cult - us against the world. Romney's deal coming in was to provide front running political cover on any potential investigation of the church or its elders. There are no audits of the Church finances for a reason. In other words Romney is not a Senator for the citizens of Utah, he is a Senator for the Mormon Church. You can be assured his votes reflect the sentiments of church leadership.

Utahan's supported Romney because he saved the Utah Olympics. He made millions saving it. Romney and the late Harry Reid are "2 peas in a pod". Latest Utah poll, Romney's favorability is less than 35%. After his announcement today, he will probably fall farther down.
