Why is this not called an "IronPerson" event?

Wonder what Lina would have to say if she came in second place to a trans?

Marathoner?

A 70.3 was her first triathalon?

Look, I can't stand her politics and the way she's running the county, but that's DAMN impressive!

IronMan is the name of the company. They only do 70.3 and 140.6. All of their races are technically called IronMan races, but most people think of the full length when they think of completing an "Iron Man".

To any idiot making light of a 70.3, that's still around 6 hours of strong uninterrupted output across all three legs.

1.2 miles in open water (looks like it was serial rather than block start), 56 miles on the bike then a nice easy 13.1 mile run. I completed one years ago and it took me more than a year of heavy preparation. Getting your nutrition strategy ironed out alone is an impressive feat.

You can do it while having a career - as long as you pretty much don't have any other life commitments at all.

IronMans are a rich man's sports. I volunteer at trail running events and run all the Ultras I want for free.

I can't put her down her for that. In fact, that's the most impressive thing she has done while in office.

I just completed the 2022 Austin Marathon in 3:55:21 on February 20th. That was my first full marathon after running 8 half marathons.

Completing a half ironman takes longer than completing a full marathon. The sheer complexity of training for a triathlon certainly beats just running. It requires much more planning, logistics, equipment, equipment maintenance, and time. I despise Lina Hidalgo's politics, but I applaud her for completing the half ironman.

You give Trail Running a try? Great outdoor therapy. As a Vet you might appreciate it. A lot more genuine people than big city marathons where people are looking to post pics on social media.

if $1k to plan and train for 6-12 months is a financial burden for a college graduate then there are probably bigger issues that need to be met versus arguing about $1k on the internet.

Yeah. She can EAD. Ironman Texas (the full) was cancelled last April simply because Harris county pulled the permits they had given to Ironman to have the bike course on the hardy toll road. And, fyi, you aren't allowed to draft in an Ironman race so everyone should have been about 15' apart during the bike portion (the only portion in Harris county).

I abhor this woman, but competing in an iron man is not something I could do, so good for her.

And I will say this again, does this woman have a job? When is she in court?

Exactly- zero science- all a huge power play. Aggressively shut it down!
She should be shouted down everywhere instead of praised.
She shut people down yet she just did the same thing and she still has her stupid color charts.
