I don't know. Ask Chevrolet who has had electronic door handles on the Vette since 2003 and I believe the SSR also had them. Funny how these articles about them being death traps never appear. Other cars have had them as well.
Could it be because it is a very rare event and if it was a traditional car, know one would click on the story? If you are so concerned about being unable to get out of a car when the electricity system fails, why shouldn't we also go back to manual windows because then you have another escape route if the manual door mechanism fails (which they do)?
