No one does that
My Nissan Altima can go 500 miles before fill up. 25 miles from work 50 miles round trip. 2 fill ups in a 2 week period.
My Jeep Wrangler gets 14 mpg. I fill up less than twice a month. Nice to have a short work commute and live on an island so my beach trips are ~4 mi roundtrip.

Don't think the Tesla would be much fun on the beach, either.
Thinking back about the beach thing...

Do most EVs have tow points that can be hooked up to if they get stuck on the beach? I'm sure I'll see one soon since I'm seeing more of them in Corpus and the island. Folks get stuck all the time here.\

NOTE: This is a question, not a diss.

I think the fact that government has been working to force them on everyone has caused a lot of the animosity.

Even when the rules/regulations are not directly beneficial for EVs, they're often negative towards ICE (to the indirect benefit of EVs).

That, and just like with lots of things, the EVs have rabid fanbois...which turn off folks who aren't fanbois. (you seen this with the Apple/Android ecosystems, too).

So, I think it makes folks who otherwise be agnostic on EVs into anti-EV folks...

Anyways...just an observation.

I've been in a lot of Allsups.

Get the burritos...probably better than the conversation.
I've taken my children into Allsups for the express purpose of warning them about the burritos. Unless travelling alone, you should never - and I mean NEVER - purchase and eat on a trip lasting more than 30 minutes.

I'm quite happy. I just don't get so bored I go to the gas station to chat. I'd rather be with my family or friends or running errands or working. I go to businesses to do the business I came for, not to chat. Not ever going to a gas station is a big selling point for an EV.

Then again I wouldn't waste my money to think I'm sticking it to the liberals either. Maybe pump a few gallons down the drain next time to really let em have it.

They are building a new Allsups on my way to Lake Granbury. I usually stop at the one in Cool when I hit crappie holes in Lake Mineral Wells

That's the problem. In Allsup's market areas there are about as many public restrooms as there are EV charging stations.

Most of the trucks do. Know the Rivian R1T/R1S and F150 Lightning do for sure. Cybertruck maybe. The EV cars have the typical front screw in tow point that most modern cars have. On the Tesla, behind the cover for the front tow point are two wires for "jumping" the car if the low voltage battery is dead and you need to unlock the doors.

So how is your situation have any bearing on my situation? I stated what I save and not what the average. You are essentially just being argumentative for the sake of being argumentative; just like a woman you have to be right and have the last word with rebuttals that have no relevance.

I drive 30K miles a year. My old X5 avg range was about 325 miles. I refuel when it gets down to about 1/5 of a tank on average. So lets say about 280 miles before each fill up. So actually I probably go to the gas station 100+ times a year.

So why do I care if you go less? It has no bearing on me and that is all that matters. I save 100+ times going to the gas station a year, that is just my facts.
Medaggie
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I inferred my situation but I guess its easier to just jump on everything that is pro EV.

I said for my 30K miles a year situation, which does not include towing or daily drives over 200 miles, its a perfect solution.

If I towed things regularly, for long distance, I would not get an EV.

I have a model Y that easily tows my AR250 from a neighborhood boat ramp to my lake home a block away easily. I am getting a CT and will easily tow my AR250 from my lakehouse to to home that is about 70 miles away very regularly.

So yes, for my towing needs, an EV truck works perfectly too.

I am with you on this. People think I am taking one side, I don't even understand why there is even a side.

an EV makes sense to me, so I bought one. I explain the positive points which greatly outweighs the negative points for me. I respect those who never will buy an EV, I can care less and have never told anyone that they have to get an EV.

I am neither telling someone to buy one nor do I think ICE stinks. Guess what, I have an ICE at home too in a 2 car family. If an ICE car improves greatly to match what a Tesla offers me, I would replace my EV.

People makes it political because they get butt hurt with gov mandates. Well, take it out on Biden but me buying an EV doesn't mean I agree with the mandate which I do not. I just think its a better car for my/my family vs an ICE.

Its not that most don't have time to drop by a gas station. But you may be the first I know who enjoys going to a gas station.

I have time to go get my oil changed every week but it doesn't mean I want to do it. Same goes with going to the cleaners, car wash, grocery shopping. They are chores I have to do, but my life would be better if I never did it.

GM's brute force of getting range by using massive battery packs could be useful in a similar situation. 215 kWh pack powering an overpriced LA house (or event space) to demonstrate their bi-directional charging system

Depends on the situation. If you have solar panels that can directly charge the EV (most systems aren't setup this way) then EV all the way. Otherwise if it's just for a few hours, maybe up to a day, take the EV. If it's more than a day and you don't have solar to charge then go ICE. I would bet on being able to siphon fuel if the grid is down for a few days to weeks. Anything longer than that…..go with the horse, rifle and lots of ammo.

The old catch 22. Tesla lowered prices to cling to market share but clobbered rental companies who now have to unload their used fleets at steep losses. Rental companies are refusing to buy new Teslas, hurting sales more.

Ah jeez. If you don't have to do these things what are you going to do? You'll be bored, mate. Or you'll get into **** you don't need to get into. You will fill your time with some other bull**** if all of your "chores" are done for you, or you'll shoot yourself bc you have nothing to do.

I go to the grocery store 3-4x a week just to grab a couple items. All my meat is from local farmers and we eat a 80% meat diet. My milk from a local dairy farmer. My eggs from my chickens. But I like the grocery store. I catch up with my people there.

I change my own oil in 1 of my vehicles. The other 2 I take to big O. I know everyone in that place too. It's good to catch up with them every few months.

I'm going to have to stop for gas on the way home today, and I can't wait. Been looking forward to it all day! I'll get to stand silently watching money tick away instead of continuing to my destination.

If I had an EV, I'd go straight home and spend a few extra minutes with my daughter before she goes to bed. I'm thankful for my life saving interaction with the gas pump that will keep me from shooting myself if I had more free time with my family.

It's a sacrifice well worth it to avoid suicide. Once my Tesla arrives, I'll still pull into a gas station from time to time and stare at a gas pump because those errands are some of the highlights of my week. I may even rip up a $50 bill while I'm at it for old times sake.

I am so confused by the whiplash. I have been told to never buy an EV because they can't stand waiting 20 minutes at a supercharger but now going to a gas station 25-50 times a year is a glorious activity.

It's amazing how the government once again has us breathing down each others throats over an "issue" like this. Choose an ICE, choose an EV. I don't care. Whatever works best for your lifestyle.

What I do care about is the government influencing prices, which we all know damn well they do and will continue to do in the push for more EVs. That's what I fight against. Not one another.

I pointed out how the saving 5 minutes a week will have no real impact on that posters life. Your need to hyperbolize what i said is just proof of how poor ground you have to argue your side.

Ok thanks. I agree.

I'm against government mandates. I'm against subsidies too but I don't qualify for any. I'm also against nonsense and this thread is full of it from anti EV obsessed posters.

Similar to why people hate masking. It isn't that someone else wears a mask and they just hate them. They were forced on so many, that they began to hate them.

It's not that they actually hate the idea of EVs, they just know what comes with it. Higher prices for ICE. When in reality, it should be lower because of more options. If government got the hell out of the way.
texagbeliever
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Saying ICE people are unjustified in their hate against EVs is completely ignorant of the impact of regulations that favor EVs have had on the price and availability of ICE vehicles. This is especially true for affordable options. Only vehicles produces are $$$ because they get enough margin to overcome the regulatory rules that prevent automakers from pumping out lower margin vehicles.
