Is it? The "cultish" EV owners aren't the ones who keep starting these threads. Or that post daily updates about them. Generally, EV owners enjoy their vehicles and will happily share experiences if asked. Were there some obnoxious Tesla owners in the early days when it was an expensive niche vehicle? Of course. But now it's the most popular car in the country and I can't remember the last time I saw one with a vanity plate.

Dodge, GM and Ford pickups are still more popular.

"Just drink the koolaid."

Quote:

There were loudspeakers all over the compound, and Jim Jones's voice was on them almost 24/7. He couldn't be talking all the time, but he'd tape what he said and then play it back all day long. And the rule was that we couldn't talk when Jim Jones was talking. So on the loudspeakers, he'd suddenly call out, "White Night! White Night! Get to the pavilion! Run! Your lives are in danger!" Everyone would rush to the pavilion in middle of the encampment.

Then he would tell us that in the United States, African Americans were being herded into concentration camps, that there was genocide on the streets. They were coming to kill and torture us because we'd chosen what he called the socialist track. He said they were on their way.

-Jim Jones.

You can practically sub "buy, defend, and brag about the Tesla's! Someone has disparaged agreement about our vehicles!"

Yet another post about a car he doesn't care about, on a thread dedicated to the cars he doesn't care about.

I don't get why Tesla is so polarizing to some. Its a company. They make cars and other stuff. If you like the cars, then great. If you don't, then don't buy one.

Its just another car company. I like their cars, I buy them. I had 2 BMWs b/c they "were" a good car company and now they have been passed so I don't buy them.

No need to convince either sides to agree with you. Discuss, and move on. Sounds like a bunch of women who have to prove themselves right.

I think it's fanboy syndrome. He is so enamored with Tesla he renamed himself that here and just can't conceive anyone possibly not liking the car.

The rest of us are constantly amazed at the ironies surrounding all these government EV mandates.

Who has said this? There are plenty of valid reasons to not like the car, or EV' in general. Only one side is saying "I will never buy...". I'd happily buy another ICE if it checked boxes that were valid to me.

I mean, so far just in the past couple days I've been blasted for not understanding/agreeing to:

  • 'White knighting' for ICE vehicles.
  • Not wanting to talk about Tesla's because they 'destroy the narrative.'
  • Tesla is so much more than a car company (that only makes cars and charging systems).
  • Claiming Tesla fans are akin to a cult (note first point vs. Jim Jones "white night" quotes).
  • Caring about the environment/impact on politics of EV's
  • Disregarding the claim by some Tesla drivers not to care about the environment at all
  • Ignoring the clear superiority/reliability of the Tesla supercharger system vs. the linked article provided.
But now, now per yet another 'reformed' BMW driver (how again does that support intelligence/reasoning in selecting/understanding cars?), who has posted regularly on the "I will never buy an EV" thread here over the past month, of course always about their Tesla's superiority, "discuss and move on."

It's absolutely the funniest thing in politics right now since Joe Biden is not speaking publicly too often. LOL.

In other news..

Tesla just released a new Model Y variant that is $43k, making it $35k after the federal tax credit. Combine that with not having to pay for gas or maintenance and the most popular car in America is about to get even more popular. This now prices it $13,000 under the average price of a new vehicle. EV's aren't just cheaper to operate, they are cheaper to own.

What is the difference between porcupines and lawyers in BMWs? With a porcupine, the *****s are on the outside.

Definitely targeted to the pure commuter who lives near a major urban area and rarely takes road trips. Basically, it's targeted to most drivers in America.

I'm all for letting the market decide. But the govt needs to stay out of the subsidy business, the banning of ICE business, and the putting ridiculous MPG standards on ICE vehicles business. They aren't distractions when they will drive higher prices for ICE vehicles and lower for EV.

I have vanity plates that remind people of the electric power train in my EV. I also take off fast because it's fun. That has nothing to do with cultist ideology. I have vanity plates that remind people of 4 wheeling on my 4X4 ICE truck as well. The only people on here that are cultists are the ones saying they will never have a vehicle that's an EV. That's literally the name of this thread. In my household we have an ICE vehicle, a hybrid and an EV. How can that be cultish? You've got it backward.

I completely agree but Never EV-ers can't see it both ways. Car makers get subsidies/bailouts too, but never a peep. GM/Ford have a history of bailouts and recent low interest loans to keep them competative.

Gov should stay out of everything. Nothing should be too big to fail. Let them all fail and let capitalism decide.

I live in East Texas and I don't have a Tesla. But I do have a certain Ford Truck. I don't have vanity plates. And if I'm first in line at a light with a reasonable speed limit, I accelerate fast. I enjoy it and I can assume those behind me are rightly confused. If I had to find affirmation as an EV owner from the ICE public, I get that when I pop the frunk to put groceries in. That amazes some people.

Frunk is cool. I'll bet you don't have one in your truck. I have all the room in the bed and the back seat bench area. But I pop the frunk and store stuff and I leave the red light fast. Really fast. Zero to fifty in about that fast. But not over fifty. And I don't pay whatever you pay for gasoline.

That Frunk was another plus that Elon invented. Some EVs still don't have it b/c they think they can just throw a battery in and call it an EV but they are very mistaken.

I do wish the Gov would get out of subsidies but they are trying to save the Big 3. The Big 3 know that they can not compete with Tesla and prob 5 yrs behind them which by then they will be bankrupt.

Gotta get those union votes.

I got mine from Ford. They aren't the first but it is cool regardless of who invented it. Elon didn't invent space flight either. But his iteration is well...., cool! I have one of a few very truck frunks in my neck of the woods.
