I understand that they saw this coming and have already distributed the BTC to individual truckers.TravelAg2004 said:

If you use a web-based wallet on Coinbase, the feds can see it, and it is tied to YOU.torrid said:
OK, I thought one of the reasons for Bitcoin was to STOP government interference in money transfer. Then how can Trudeau do this?
Serious question for administrative errors.

If you can stop someone from moving that cash to a bank in your country, you can stop that activity.
If you have it on a hardware wallet, you can transfer it directly from your hardware wallet to someone else.
So if they have a transaction with another Canadian they are likely effed too?DeLaHonta said:
The article says the order blocks FINTRAC regulated companies from transacting with the wallets specified. It prevents them from cashing out on an exchange for Canadian dollars/other currency, but doesn't prevent peer to peer transactions.
Counter SignalQuote:
. . . order . . . which demands that all FINTRAC regulated companies in Canada cease transacting with 34 cryptocurrency wallets.

Side note, what's with these tyrannical leaders and their whispering? I've noticed this idiot does it just like China Joe.
Was there some class these morons took on public speaking that emphasizes it or what?

So if I'm reading this correctly:
So person X gives me a btc, I turn around and give it to person Y said btc in exchange for enough diesel to keep the trucks running for another two week?
So they had probably set up some throwaway wallets, then discard them as soon as they transferred the money out? I mean it all seems like part of the game, but generally it is the same games played with regular currency. Its Texas Aggies, dammit said:I understand that they saw this coming and have already distributed the BTC to individual truckers.TravelAg2004 said:

I need Administrative Eros (intentional) to tell me why BTC can't be controlled by governments, which is one reasons BTC is superior to fiat currency.Marcus Brutus said:Sully Dog said:

Not from the wallets that Trudeau is currently blocking. You can't send BTC to those wallets. The truckers will have to get new wallets. That's my understanding.

Transfer to Monero, send to whomever, transfer back to Bitcoin, problem solved!

That Canadian Govt cant do dick to stop bitcoin transactions from those wallets. They only control what banks do.
To the extent one needs to sell BTC for fiat this is a problem. But you should not be selling your BTC.

Send up the bat signal for Administrative Errors.
Remember when I said the government will f*** with Bitcoin when they're good and ready?
And you were like "nuh uh".
Well, here you go.
So my Trezor is good, but the Coinbase I send money from is bad. Right? "Bad" meaning "findable by Nazis like Trudeau."Signel said:
