Move the bitcoin to another wallet - and the order is as worthless as Trudeau.

Side note, what's with these tyrannical leaders and their whispering? I've noticed this idiot does it just like China Joe.

Was there some class these morons took on public speaking that emphasizes it or what?

Thank you Canadian truckers. You are forcing the leftists to expose themselves instead of hiding behind their normal false promises and flowery language.

I understand that they saw this coming and have already distributed the BTC to individual truckers.

Can someone explain how a btc wallet can be blocked by a government official?

If it's that easy, then the appeal of btc is seriously diminished.

OK, I thought one of the reasons for Bitcoin was to STOP government interference in money transfer. Then how can Trudeau do this?

Serious question for administrative errors.

If you use a web-based wallet on Coinbase, the feds can see it, and it is tied to YOU.

If you can stop someone from moving that cash to a bank in your country, you can stop that activity.

If you have it on a hardware wallet, you can transfer it directly from your hardware wallet to someone else.

The article says the order blocks FINTRAC regulated companies from transacting with the wallets specified. It prevents them from cashing out on an exchange for Canadian dollars/other currency, but doesn't prevent peer to peer transactions.

Admittedly ignorant in all things cryptocurrency/blockchain related, but it sounds like you still have to do the equivalent of laundering the money.

Are all online wallets trackable to the owner? So Trudeau forced Coinbase to provide the info?

So if they have a transaction with another Canadian they are likely effed too?

lol, he's going to have to update that several times a day to keep up with the wallets they're using. He'll always be a step behind.

Seems like a double loss for him. He looks like a tyrant while completely failing to affect their ability to access the bitcoin.

This is all from their socialist idols in the 60's, they have spent decades figuring out ways to hide the same motive and play on people's emotions to support their insatiable appetite for power and money.

This may just all a giant bluff by Trudeau, but he has certainly nuked many people's perception of what Bitcoin can or cannot do.

I mean, I was thinking of sending them some money. Now I'm hesitant. Does that make me Trudeau's *****?

Not from the wallets that Trudeau is currently blocking. You can't send BTC to those wallets. The truckers will have to get new wallets. That's my understanding.

So they had probably set up some throwaway wallets, then discard them as soon as they transferred the money out? I mean it all seems like part of the game, but generally it is the same games played with regular currency.

I need Administrative Eros (intentional) to tell me why BTC can't be controlled by governments, which is one reasons BTC is superior to fiat currency.

You can send them without going through a Canadian regulated broker to anyone. If you have an actual wallet, not an account at some broker.

When you buy BTC through say Venmo, all the money goes through there address. You don't actually own BTC, Venmo owns BTC and you own a part of the fund. Like having $$ In the bank.

But if you can find someone to actually send BTC to your wallet, which is unique to you, you actually own BTC, it's like cash in your hand. You can pay anyone you want that accepts cash.

That Canadian Govt cant do dick to stop bitcoin transactions from those wallets. They only control what banks do.

To the extent one needs to sell BTC for fiat this is a problem. But you should not be selling your BTC.

Tell that to the truckers that need fuel and food. I don't think BTC is going to fill your stomach or keep you warm in a Canadian winter.

What do you do if coinbase doesn't let you withdraw to your Trezor because of some government mandate? That's essentially what this is.

Now, I'd the BTC is already on your Trezor then the govt can't do **** and you can p2p for as much gas/food as you want.
