The parents need to tell their children not to obey when a command like this is given. Of course sadly I bet many of these liberal parents would agree with this.

This teacher feels it's ok to brainwash 5th graders that she is being paid and trusted to teach 5th grade. She needs and the school needs to know by the parents it's not ok!

If true she should be fired.

Was raised this way and still teach my kids to do the same.

However,…abuse my kids (mentally or physically and I might reconsider my life long stance on the issue

Terrible response by the district

The problem is at the end of the letter.

"...whatever you do treat each other with kindness and respect."

When the other party is insane, won't listen to you, and does whatever they want regardless of your logical protests, kindness and respect won't change their course.

This needs to be brought to the level of national awareness in order to awaken the passive conservative populace to the reality of the systemic efforts being used to fight racism with racism. The utter smugness that oozes from the school district's response should sicken anyone that has made every effort to welcome equality and fairness.

I would physically assault that teacher. My family would have to understand.

I'd sue that school district if my child was in that class.

Won't be long until some school district does this crap.
