i'm not allergic to peanut butter but shellfood. it's usually avoidable, so i don't carry an epipen. i do a fair amount of conferences on SPI, and i don't ever want to be the a-hole that keeps people from enjoying seafood, so i go, and am really specific about about making sure my steak is cooked separately and why. been going for years and never had an issue.MapGuy said:
Even with an epi pen, many folks like myself still require a trip to the ER, the epi pen just gets us there before the windpipe closes.
one time, they didn't do it and i had a major reaction in front of a customer and had to go to the bathroom. only choice was to purge. not an awesome event to have happen while out with customers, and i had to apologize to my fellow bathroom goers for what was about to happen.
i'm not the type to cause a scene, ask for the manager, sue, or ask for anything free ever, but i did ask the manager when he came to check on me to see if it was noted on my order and it was not and they comped my whole party's meal. not ever what i want, but they offered it up. mistakes happen for sure and i don't begrudge people that mistake, but allergens in food service isn't something to take lightly.
obviously the dude overreacted here, but it's one of those "can't agree with your actions... but i get it" moments.
