Talked to guy loading my groceries at HEB curbside. Said he was surprised we only had 1 substitution and that groceries are becoming scarce for them. He said they are way under staffed due to lots of people sick as well as getting paid by the government. Hard to find people to work.

Don't seem to be understaffed to me, way too many "personal shoppers" constantly in the way of us nonlazyasses while they're looking for the lazyasses' items.

I've got to this morning. It's been 3 weeks, it'll be interesting to see what it's like.

Picked up HEB curbside last night before the weekend shoppers hit it too hard. They tried to do 5 substitutions (I rejected some of the subs like trying to sub dairy free for a dairy product) and some items were just completely out. Ran by Kroger and was able to get most of the items but the prices were high.

HEB in Pearland was out of so many things yesterday that my six-year-old commented.

No cereal, no bacon, no pre-popped popcorn. The freezer section was barren.

TP and paper towels are farking expensive, and usually limited choice in brands compared to pre Chyna virus.

Lost 3/4 of my curbside order yesterday. I don't even bother allowing substitutions because they always pick crap. Going to have to start going elsewhere, assuming other stores have stock, because HEB can't seem to get/keep anything in stock anymore, even their own branded items.

My grocery store was pretty barren yesterday. Plain pasta aisle was picked clean with only elbows and spaghetti available. Most of what was gone on the aisles I go down were convenience foods and mixes. Yogurt shelf only had a few products and the milk I prefer to buy wasn't stocked. Plenty of eggs, produce and meat though less variety of brands, meat cuts on the shelf. Scored some quick sale ribeyes and tenderloin steaks that nobody wanted for the original price. Beer was well stocked.

I don't buy much of anything else from the center of the store so unsure of that. I have had a frito pie craving since people keep bringing up how they can't get Fritos. Haven't had it in years but it sounds good now that I can't have it!

I'm glad I'm not the only one who's noticed this. They're more annoying than the usual shoppers!

People are being driven to the middle of the store for processed junk because the outside walls are too expensive now. Steak I used to buy at Costco for $13 lb is now $18 lb. Skirt steak is 35% higher. Etc...

Most notable for me is the yogurt my kids eat. But often it'll be at either Walmart or Target.
Of dry goods, I notice that when certain things are in short supply, it seems like things that could be produced overseas and shipped here (pasta, cereal?)
Also, wasn't there a big Kellogg's cereal strike going on at one point?

My Brookshire Brothers in the country was stocked and fine but staying away from high priced meats. Couldn't find the fruit cobbler though.

Go to HEB's website and you'll see this at the bottom of the page.

And I don't live in Victoria. It always defaults there if I don't log in.

No doubt you're right! It's still a great time for America to stop buying crap, learn to cook, eat out less and maintain a healthy body. Even with rising prices, we still spend much much less than our friends who eat out constantly and we don't struggle with weight as much. Our kids have their picky moments but they eat real food.

I went to Kroger yesterday and it seemed that in order to minimize the impact of low inventory on their shelves, they simply moved coolers and shelves to the back of the store and re-organized what was left. So there's more space between the remaining fixtures and the appearance of scarcity is minimized.
The selection on the chip aisle is not what it used to be. They also place the same chips at various spots throughout the same aisle to "fill" the shelves. There was still a lot of empty space.

In general, I have noticed a much narrower selection of items, the brands that I am accustomed to are available less often, some items are simply not available, everything is more expensive.
