If he had a BLM sticker instead she would have been fine. Free speech indeed, but only if you agree with me.
In this instance, the beauty of it to me is that it was likely his personal bag, he is in a very regulated/unionized job, and the employer can't likely ban him/them from political stickers now without a big union agreement/negotiation. The ALPA has hated AAL since at least the Bob Crandall days, so I doubt that happens. A lot.
Basically, when leftist chickens come home to roost.
I was sitting here thinking... Some rules are easy. No profanity, nothing that advertises or promotes illicit activity (no stickers/tags promoting drug use etc). Beyond that, like you said it's a personally owned tag on what's likely a personally owned roller bag.
IF they wanted to get draconian, make that luggage a part of their uniform and issue it.
It really is hysterically funny to me. AAL can't change a dang thing about their collective bargaining agreement with pilots unilaterally and pilots at all the majors have always had stickers on their personal bags like fly navy, politics related etc. (I know I like knowing my pilot knows how to land on a postage stamp at sea). Now, most pilots (who are not within a year or 3 of retirement) of course don't want to be bothered with this, I also think the vast majority of them don't want to vote to concede anything.
I'm not a labor law attorney, nor a pilot, but I am curious if any such SWA/AAL etc. pilots do feel comfortable enough to opine on this thread.
