Never forget Cruz nit supporting orangeman at the republican nat convention
So Hillary could win?
Cruz keeps picking the wrong side
Def of a politician just not a great one.
He married a bush campaign person. Golden Sachs managing director [establishment]
He'll be about politics more than substance but he realizes his niche is conservative stuff. But he doesn't believe Trump will be back and again he is mis understanding the rightful king.
Just likewise absalom He self appointed himself but he was nit the anointed and chosen king.
Why don't y'all try watching the whole interview where he explains that he's referring to attacking law enforcement as terrorism and not the other protestors?
His full statement from 1/5:
Quote:
Cruz: Thank you for your service. And I want to start by thanking the heroic service of the men and women who serve alongside you. We are approaching a solemn anniversary this week, and it is an anniversary of a violent terrorist attack on the Capitol, where we saw the men and women of law enforcement demonstrate incredible encourage, incredible bravery, risk their lives to defend the men and women who serve in this Capitol. We are grateful for that courage. We appreciate the selfless sacrifice of the men and women who keep us safe. And I will say, my view is that anyone who commits an act of violence should be prosecuted. And anyone who assaults a law enforcement officer should go to jail for a very long time. And I think that's a principle that's true regardless of the politics of the violent criminal whether they are right-wing, left-wing or they've got no wings at all. If you assault a cop, you ought to go to jail for a long, long time. And I hope we get some agreement that that should be true regardless of the political context that ostensibly and purportedly justifies that violence that we will stand with the men and women in blue. So I thank you for your service, I thank the men and women who serve with you, for their service.
EDIT: Adding full video of his introduction and questioning of Chief of Capitol Police.
Talk is cheap. Ted needs to redeem himself with action.
Yep, he needs to lead the charge for the Jan. 6th trespassers who are being help illegally and their constitutional rights are being violated. For a constutionalist, he failed miserably.

He knows how sound clips work. He has sliced up many people for saying similar stupid stuff about other things in Congress. That's what he's good at.
This thread is quite demoralizing. We have a politician slipping up and telling us what he actually thinks and we are here making excuses for him and letting them off the hook.
This. I don't believe for one nanosecond that he said "violent terrorist attack" by mistake. How do you even mistakenly do that?
Cruz talks a slick game and is great at dunking on apparatchiks in committee hearings, but sadly seems to be just like all the rest.
I think one of the biggest conservatives in the Senate is allowed one slip up before calling him like the rest.
If you know Cruz, it wasn't a slip. He is one of, if not the most intelligent wordsmiths in the Senate.

Nope. Grasping at straws at best.
Cruz is not dead to me because of this, but neither was this just an "oopsy" a mistake. Cruz of all people knows the power of words these days and labeling something as a terrorist event is a VERY strong message that is not "mistaken" these days. Not at these levels of Congress.
Cruz is still one of the best representatives we have over there, but this is not a light thing to be cast aside. He is definitely feeling the burn now from it and honestly, he should.
Maybe I am just triggered due to personal experiences as the terrorist term is not something that should be lightly tossed around IMO. And I think most people would agree and Cruz knows this as well and still said it. Makes you think a bit...

He's too good of a politician to not know saying the word terrorist would end up being used against him. He definitely meant to say it.
I think he just didn't realize how bad it would blow up in his face. I agee with Ted, that was "frankly dumb".
Looks to me like he's been in Washington too long. He's definitely losing his touch with his base if he screwed up this bad.
Cruz is a reliable conservative. I knows what he said was wrong and is admitting to it.
We don't need to establish a "Church of MAGA" and excommunicate him. That's what the left does to their "heretics". We're not the left.
What? This church has been in session since Trump came down the escalator. The past 5 years people who are reliable conservatives that are pro-life, pro strong borders, pro free market, school choice, etc., etc., have been deemed heretics if they dared to disagree with Trump. They could have even voted for him, but that wasn't good enough. There is a church of MAGA and Cruz is the latest heretic.
This is completely false. Trump is a buffoon, but he's still the best president we've had since Reagan.
Ben Shapiro has been able to completly destroy the protestors actions for 365 days without ever calling them terrorists.
As someone that that can lay a claim on being one of the earliest posters on here to support Ted Cruz in a primary against David Dewhurst for Senate. Ted's comments have me really discouraged.
Tucker is right. Ted is a master wordsmith. His excuse here is lame.
I've been cooling on Cruz for a while. He's such a politician.
Cruz has been wrong a few times and right a million. Some of my team mates on the right seek perfection in an imperfect world and fail to think long term or in the big pictures.

Vote for DeSantis then. Get the policy minus the theatrics.

It isn't about perfection. It is about the definition of insanity - doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.
Washington needs to become something entirely different than the global elitist class that makes it up today.
I'm willing to let Democrats rule unchecked for 20 years if that's what it takes for regular citizens to be elected into office and term limits to finally get passed -- its better for a fast boil of tyranny by the left anyways, we need people scared of socialism. Otherwise we are doomed imo.
Cruz was either braindead or nave in making his prepared comments. I'm going with the latter. He let his true self come through and now that genie isn't going back in the bottle.
The federal government is literally the enemy of the common everday tax paying American citizen!
It's not like 200 years ago their were radically virtuous people that made the US Government great. This is why the founders knew there needed to be minimal government involvement. Politicians were political and slimy from Day 1. Not sure what everyone is expecting here.
I've been cooling on Cruz for a while. He's such a politician.
BS. He deserves some credit for standing in and answering some tough questions. When's the last time another politician did that? Especially a democrat.. Our press is essentially useless, but politicians have to be available to be interviewed and asked to answer tough questions.
It's like republicans who have spent WAY too much time in DC have bought into the narrative and have led the incessant media propaganda control and dictate what information they have regarding the incident such that they feel the need to play to the media narrative, and they come off sounding foolish by picking it up because most of the nation doesn't actually buy the narrative. Most of the nation thinks it was jackasses that got out of hand and went way too far with a protest, and thinks insurrection is hyperbolic characterization of it. Only in the DC bubble might that be a more majority viewpoint.
This is not the first time he has called them terrorists. He didn't misspeak. Below is the official statement sent out by his office a year ago. These are his true thoughts.

No he doesn't. That's his job and he doesn't get extra credit for doing the bare minimum. It's no wonder we always lose when we look the democrats as the standard of congressional behavior by which we judge our own representatives.
The flames of the Imperium burn brightly in the hearts of men repulsed by degenerate modernity. Souls aflame with love of goodness, truth, beauty, justice, and order.
He made a mistake and is willing to say so. Cruz does so many things that are good for conservatives. He defends regular Americans and there are very few like him up there. No need to continue the circular firing squad.
This.
No politician is perfect. I love Cruz. He made a mistake. So do all of us.
I still had the feel watching Ted yesterday and tonight that he is a man who was coerced into saying what he did yesterday by some very powerful persons and threats. I do not believe that his words were inadvertent or that they were uttered voluntarily by him as any statement of his own beliefs.
Makes me wonder if there may be legs to the story that legislators who did not adequately denounce Jan 6th will be targeted by the DOJ for insurrection charges, and possibly be barred from serving or running again.
As a lawyer, Ted knows that one can be targeted and prosecuted with no basis in truth. We saw the same thing twice with Trump.
Who we are is God's gift to us. What we become is our gift to God.
Ted obviously realizes he made a huge mistake I just cannot fathom what would have made him take that approach. They were prepared remarks. Something stinks just a bit.
He definitely looked like he was about to cry during the interview.
If he wants to prove it was a mistake, maybe a good time to take real action on something instead of just "calling" for things behind closed doors....
