More than I would care to admit to. A ton of good stories-- but ya, way too many fights.

Same bar mid 80s around Thanksgiving. I don't recall exactly what happened but fight started and my friends and I were literally in the middle of it tho not involved. Fight got broken up and anyone with Aggie or sip gear on got thrown out.
We go to our car to try and leave. Sip frat dudes siting on the hood. We start honking the horn in hullabaloo caneck caneck to try and get them off. Cop comes up and tell us that if we did it again, he would arrest us for "unnecessary use of horn". I told the cop to tell them to get off the hood and I'll stop......My friend starts mouthing off that "my brother is a cop in Houston and there no such thing as that." Frat boys and cops leave. We drive for about a couple blocks up 6th Street and start honking again. LOL. 80s were a great time to live in Austin!

Been in several back in the day. What's the context of this inquiry?

I was in a wedding "fight" with the maid of honor and her boyfriend. Lots of near fights - bars, parties, truck stop. Last fight with punches I was in was high school.

Anybody here old enough to remember Woody at the Chicken? That poor dude - a resident of Snook as I recall, not a student - got into plenty of fights back in the day.
That was one of the guys I talked my way out of a fight with in the 70's. He could drink and try to start fights, but he sure couldn't shoot pool!milner79 said:

The closest I ever got was at the Chicken a few years after I graduated. Some drunk idiot thought I stole his wallet and started trying to shove me around. After several shoves I was able to prove my innocence. He profusely apologized and all was well after that. I'm lame so that's all I got!

I've only been in one physical altercation that I remember in detail. It was in middle school and some black and Hispanic kids were hanging around the vending machine after school. Some racial slurs where thrown my way by I just wanted some candy
My candy got stolen by a big Mexican kid, like over 6foot and huge. I think he played on the defensive line. Of course they asked what I was going to do and I was getting pushed around.
I ended up punching on black guy in the face or neck and I took some of the bearing that was going to inevitably come my way.
This is going to sound racist because it is but I ended up saying something to the effect of "decent people can't be left alone by nwords (stressing the hard r) and people who need a towel for the excess moisture on their backside.
I learned that day using that language was worse than them starting it and hitting me, one of the little hood rats went straight to VP to tell on me. And I got in trouble for it.
But hey, we had a great football team in Jr high and won state our senior year

I hung out at Kay's Lounge often enough that, despite it not being the kind of place you'd expect that kind of thing, I had the opportunity to step in and break up two or three over the years. Each time, I got to drink for free the rest of the night.

It was indeed. A lot of media types went there, especially from 13, since we were just right down the street. Dr. Red Duke would also frequent the place, back in the day.Boo Weekley said:Coog97 said:

RIP Kay's. Legend has it that was Dave Ward's old watering hole.
