Texas BBQ **** Yeah! We kick everyone else's asses up and down. Not even close.

I get it, everyone hates Texas Monthly for being uber-lb. But you seriously need to set aside your differences and go visit some if not all of the Top 50. Texas has some of the best BBQ you can find. I hit all 50 on the 2017 list, planning on doing the same this year.

Magazines hit the stands Thursday.

Politics related because a ton of the joints are in Austin. Plus cattle cause global warming....Do your part to stop climate change, eat as much brisket as you can!! We only have 12 years!!!!

I'm no fan of TM but, if you haven't already, give their podcast Tom Brown's Body a listen.

Sorry, but the best barbecue in North America is at a trailer in Gruene. Gruene Barbecue Company is legit. Check it out if you're in NB area!

The politics that Texas Monthly supports wants to place a $500 per head tax on all cattle operators, - big to small - to "fight climate change."

So, pardon me if I politely tell TM to go but a stump.

NONE of the Luling/Lockhart places made the Top 50.

Hell...Franklin's dropped to 7 and Snow's dropped to 9...

I heard an interview on way home today with Daniel Vaughn (TM BBQ editor....talk about a GREAT job). They go into tons of detail determining the list. Lots and lots of research and process of elimination. It's interesting how Texas BBQ has grown, changed and evolved over the years (this is their sixth list). It's not just about brisket anymore.

The experience is just as important as the food IMO. Snow's is great just for the road trip.

BTW Baker Bros in Gonzales has great sausage. Best in the state IMO.

Hell to the naw.... Louis Mueller in Taylor,Tx. has the best BBQ brisket in Texas. Period! You must also try the potato salad- world's best. In fact, I once at a half-gallon at one seating. LA BBQ and Franklin's are the offspring/prodigy of the late and masterful pit boss, Bobby M.

Should be higher than honorable mention, but I stand corrected.

1775 isn't on the interactive list though.

A top 10 Texas BBQ place that doesn't have brisket except weekends. I was done with his ratings at that point

Tried Que-Zeen in Warda, TX on Sunday.

Worth the stop if you are traveling on HWY 77 south of Giddings.

Riiiiiiight. That's why you post oak "smokers" constantly complain about mesquite "burning too hot". The professionals know how to handle that.

Not my complaint. I just think the mesquite flavor is nasty.

Had BBQ all over this great land of ours and, IMO...
1. Texas
2. Tennessee
3. KC
4. Alabama

Had BBQ in Montana last week and have no idea what kind of wood they use. Pine, Dogwood, Aspen? Whatever wood they use does not give a good flavor. Those poor people are in need of Oak and Mesquite.

Tootsie is the queen of BBQ forever at Snow's in Lexington. Even Aaron Franklin says so.

But my favorite brisket by far is Hutchins BBQ in McKinney, TX.

Hard Eight is pretty good too, despite being a chain now.

Sonny Bryans and Dickies were once great, but have given up quality for becoming massive chains.

Up here in the west metro of Minneapolis we do have a Baker Bros BBQ in Eden Prairie, MN which is pretty good, and has a LOT of Aggie stuff up alongside the Gopher stuff!

But the best in this are is an independent place called Buddy Boy BBQ in Minnetrista. They do their BBQ Texas style, which makes it the best compared to others in this area. I will miss it when I move to Bama in the Spring, but looking forward to discovering some of the many BBQ joints along the gulf coast there.
