I watched this last night on Netflix. Chappelle spent way too much time explaining himself in regards to his "transphobia". He seemed to say it was ok for him to make jokes at the expense of LBGT because he was black and his "people" had suffered for centuries, not simply because he's a comic and they are fair game like anyone else he roasts. This is what Ricky Gervais has said or would say.

From my understanding of his last few specials, Chapelle views the culture around trans people as basically a way for white males to paint themselves as victims that have suffered just as much as black people. How seriously he believes that is up to interpretation, but he does like making jokes at that type of culture's expense. Mainly because the people that get angry at him weren't coming to watch his special in the first place, so he just gets free publicity out of it for the people who do like him.

I can see both sides of that point of view.

Should be interesting to see if he gets more hate from the lgbtq people or the Jewish people

I think Chappelle knew exactly what he was doing when he made this special. Make more LGBTQ jokes, trigger them, create controversy, drawing more views to his special, which will make him more $$$ for future specials.

The funny thing is if a white guy made some of those LGBTQ or #metoo jokes, netflix would have canceled him so fast. But Dave gets away with it.

No, the reviewer is saying that Chapelle uses the white privilege of gays & trans to excuse his remarks. I'd say this is pretty accurate.

The reviewer, like most libs, is completely humorless when it comes to topics he or she doesn't like. Chapelle is a comic. He is not delivering a treatise on trans or gay people in America. People need to lighten up and laugh...or turn the f/cking channel.

Haven't watched it yet, but there was a trans he talked about in his last special that ended up committing suicide shortly after it was released. That person was a fan and he didn't say anything negative about them, but there could be some
underlying reasons for whatever he said this time.

Your wife deserved it for culturally appropriating black culture. She probably listened to Whitney Houston, watched Oprah, and has 3 Tyler Perry DVDs.

At the end of the special he basically said he's going to suspend joking about the LGBTQ community.

This was after he told the story of how the trans person who committed suicide was attacked by other members in the community for supporting Dave after the 2019 special.

One of the main messages in the delivery was that there are real members of various communities who experience things, yet try to exercise humanity and empathy towards others, and there are whiny cowards who do nothing but take shots at people and try to cancel them. In society today, the latter have some type of inflated sense of courage when they shouldn't.

I didn't love this one as much - he spent far too much time with messages and less tome being f'ing hilarious. He did have a few good sets in it though.

When he's on point he's one of my favorites, and when he's in point he's equally offensive to everyone.

Those with thick skin seem to like it and those easily offended don't - which is why the alphabet people hate him so much.

I thought he was smart in his message to separate that he appreciates and respects the old school gays - just not the new generations. I can relate to that feeling.
