Yes, they played up a bit of that, and also put in some swipes at colonialism as seen by Left universities.

Ironically though, the Black Panther of Marvel in the 70's was indeed something like the good character of T'chala. In fact, one of the most memorable issues --- and get this -- was how hate groups of the political parties and intel agencies were BOTH the Klan and the radical type Farrakhans in the story stirring up hatred divide on both sides. The Panther exposed them by pulling off their mask-disguises near the end on live TV.

Sounds like modern NY and DC string-pullers.

Consider the Cosby Show from the early 80s to early 90s-one of only two sitcoms in the history of the Nielson ratings to be the number-one show for five seasons and it was also in the top 20 all 8 seasons.

That's a lot of white people who can relate to and find inspiration in a black family.
