I don't see anything wrong with what he said.

If we have leaders that can't (or won't) step up like this guy to be willing to lose their careers, then why should any military person sign up to be willing to lose their lives
While many of us may agree with his words, speaking out publicly against your higher ups is easily called out as insubordination. Worst case, he'll likely be removed for his post, tried under UCMJ, and dishonorably discharged
Dishonorable Discharge is highly unlikely. He will most likely be reprimanded and passed over for 06, thus processed out. He may be asked to resign, but a trial would be highly unlikely.

Thanks for sharing that link. Thoroughly enjoyed getting to know the general. He's definitely CMC material, if not political enough to finesse it. But I really admire his frank manner of speaking. I shall be watching his star.

He spoke knowing the consequences. So nothing wrong with speaking out. He made a call, a brave one, on one level something like the China man that went in front of the tank. Not as dangerous to life, but just as certain that the aftermath will not be favorable. And yet did it anyway.

It may be insubordination, but it was knowingly so, so no irresponsible. The American people as a whole may yet eventually have to be `insubordinate'.

The only way it changes for the better is if we have many more 0-5s like him.

Yes, but what you actually need is an active General or equally highly placed still on duty officer to denounce the Bidnites in the same way. Of course scuttling his career (at least under this regime) in the process.

Disagree what he said was insubordination, using a strict definition of the word, inasmuch as he did not disobey a direct order of a superior. His criticism was not directed at anyone in particular, and the fact that he undoubtedly spoke for many others in the ranks gives him some measure of cover/protection and tolerance from all but the most intolerant among us.

I should think General Alford would be among the most sympathetic of all to this man's discomfort, and thus able to deflect any serious attempts to end his career prematurely. Sure hope so.

What he's doing is brave and probably takes a lot of thought to do. I wish more people would speak up about the inept leadership at top.

They send you for your lobotomy a couple of years after you pin O-4. I departed before that happened to me because I knew it was coming.

Not sure if I really wanted to post this for a couple of reasons. First, he is going to burn for this. That is a given. He knows this and acknowledges it though. But he is putting his career on the line because he is disgusted as a person and as a human. The second reason is that I have never agreed on making statements in uniform. Marines are indoctrinated from day one of boot or OCS that this is a mortal sin and I generally agree with that sentiment. As with most things though, there are exceptions.

Your principals are telling you to take it down. Listen to them.

You can report back a synopsis of what he is saying and he can remain more under the radar.

Just my thoughts.
That was my definitely my first and even second thoughts but he wants this out. Why post it to FB in the first place and he freely acknowledges the danger his career is in. He is doing it to strengthen his conviction and his message and not to browbeat and I can respect that in this instance.

And the message is already out. There is no takebacks as we know from the internet. TA is not going to move that meter enough to make a difference at this point anyways. His superiors are going to find out regardless now. Might as well make the end of his career meaningful and hear what he wanted to say.
Staying "under the radar" is a 3 word summation of what the ****ing problem is. There is a long line in the Biden admin for manhole covers and looking for the radar so those ****ing cowards can stay under it. UFB!!!!!!

It will be going nowhere fast. He is a senior two star who pulled his retirement package and agreed to serve two more years in a one-star billet knowing that he's not getting promoted and not getting to command a division. Who does that? Only someone who cares more deeply about Marines and the institution than about advancement. He is one of only four Marines to have commanded an infantry battalion both in Afghanistan and in Iraq. Unfortunately, the way he will depart the Corps is what happens to the oddball Generals that spend too much time fighting overreas and never have a desk job at the Pentagon.

Is that another way of saying the Selection Board lacked integrity? There may be more "polished" generals to pick from, but few more deserving of promotion? Remind me of the composition of the 3 star selection board.

Bravo sir. I hope he didn't throw his career away.

I can't imagine that the military just told Biden we might lose a few men and that's ok, they told him this was a bad idea. HE OVER-RULED THEM.
There is no other explanation.

Yes. indeed he did. He also had the character to say that his chain of command did as he would have done in `their' shoes, and he clearly fully accepted responsibility for making a stand. Far more spine than many rich GOP.

Yes. Become part of the vets entering politics to banish Leftism.

Hell, that his three sons are even allowed to become men might depend on it.

What an absolute professional and proof he was not looking for 15 mins. Bidens administration didn't deserve him.

It was inevitable but I imagine he can find his feet again soon. Intelligent and moral men do well here in America.

The only people who have needlessly "thrown away" military careers is Biden and the military leaders!

1. God Bless him
2. He's heroic for speaking out
3. He must be disciplined up to being relieved for doing so

There has to be a high price for doing some things but sometimes paying that high price is still the greater good

We will need many more brave men like Stuart Scheller if the US Military is to regain it's position as the most powerful in the world. Cowardly Biden and his inadequate advisors have to go.
