So I assume not too long until reports of activities inside Afghanistan stop being reported due to shut down of internet etc?

I know Afghans aren't real bright but I don't think illegally entering Iran is a very good idea.

The fact we left behind such valuable/functioning military machinery for our enemies is despicable. Once it became clear that the Afghan army was folding, any arms we left behind for them needed to be retaken or destroyed. The fact that this was not carried out speaks volumes about the lack of leadership and planning not just from Biden, but through the pentagon and DOD. I pay taxes those are my tax dollars going directly to fund a militant regime that wants me dead.
With respect, I'm now of the belief the "valuable/functioning military machinery" WAS our payment/ransom for allowing the airport to stay open and having private sources get as many folks out as possible.

This didn't occur to me until this morning.

I can't believe I didn't think of this before.

100% that was part of the the payment. The administration will be unfreezing their funds in US banks shortly, too. I just hope someone loosened all the Jesus nuts on those helicopters.

Or a magnet was accidentally placed on some key technical components.

Jesus nut is the fastener on the top of the rotor assembly that holds the rotors on. If that comes off.

You get to meet Jesus

Or just straight up take them.

Trump is on Fox Business with Varner giving his thoughts. Definitely wish we still had him in office.

Nothing new at this point, just hammering Biden and others behind the manner of withdrawal.

How desperate does one have to be to see Iran as the best option

Short term I worry about the Taliban using our vehicles and helicopters but unless they get major help I think 6 months from now you just have a ton of scrap metal. Especially helicopters, some of the assembly requires cooling something in liquid nitrogen to shrink it.

The Taliban don't want cell phones since an educated public is harder to control. If you control the available knowledge you control everything

Or they sell it to Russia and China on the cheap and let them refurbish it or maybe even worse use it for R&D.

So they really are back to the stone age. Sounds like violent Amish in drag.

The CCP can actually maintain all of that gear, but for the helicopter turbine engines which...heck the helicopters probably won't be flown much. I mean, they could actually build those parts but don't routinely do so, and it's not worth it to them. There's some propaganda value to both the CCP and Taliban keeping the trucks running. Some might even show up in a Beijing military parade.

They can give the Taliban Chinese helicopters (and pilots/ammo) in exchange for more 'rights' to slave laborers in precious mineral mines, though.

Not too worried about China here - they will see what is of value or new to them, not sure how much of it is. They will likely sell the taliban (or lend / lease) some of their lesser equipment and training. Whatever it takes for the gold, diamond, and minerals.

Blackhawks, A-29, RQ-4?

That's not exactly the F-35.

I was thinking they should have set a bunch of it on fire, but this feels a little more fitting.

edit: fodding out all of the engines would've been nice too. Leave the rest of the helo alone and let a bunch of washers take care of the rest.

China has already copied the RQ4 and Black Hawk so its not like they are getting anything new. Still dumb to just hand them over

Why are they not carpet bombing a field of Hummvees while the Taliban inspect it? They're practically livestreaming while they do it. We can blow up our own allies but can't stomach killing the ****ing enemy?!

Probably because we left many Americans behind and are playing nice while the Taliban is in control of our hostages. Could also be a result of very weak American political leadership. Could also be a combination of both, which is a terrible outcome.
