The small private USAF is circling around just North of the airport. Could be waiting on another plane to take off or issues at the airport my guesses.

The Turkish Air Force places go to Islamabad I noticed.

This should be a given... Not something you have to have pressure on to do.

Its an E-11A with the Battlefield Airborne Communications Node (BACN) payload, which allows them to act as highly specialized aerial communications nodes that can rapidly shift information to and from a wide variety of airborne platforms and forces on the ground

Nah, like Biden said, anybody that wants out is easily able to get to the airport to get out. Those people that we leave behind obviously just want to stay.

B-52 showing on FlightTracker24 just east of UAE. Looks like it's on its way in. Besides AC-130s, this is the first combat aircraft I've seen on any track.

The Hubs was watching some BUFFs a few days ago. They are doing high alt flyovers.

B1's are constantly on Station over Kabul rn. There's a lot of air refueling going on to keep combat aircraft on standby. Between the bombers, fighters, and UAV's we have enough firepower on station at all times to wipe out any threats to the airport

I definitely believe that, I just found it interesting that it's transmitting ADSB data.

I am trying image how I would fare having a B-52 eliminate a Taliban threat on my front lawn.

There is the ninja bomb that does not have an explosion.

Pentagon downplayed this. Said it wasn't a "rescue" but the military was providing "assistance." Also said they didn't have a whole lot of detail.

One of the least sexy Air Force missions seems to be "air refueling". However, that mission is so essentially to the force projection that only the US military can provide. It's incredibly essentially to the Air Force, the Navy, and the Marines - all those folks putting their lives on the line to carry out our defense strategy.

Yes, we all know there are so many air assets in the area that are not showing up on flightaware and other websites.

B-52s are going to stand off and do their thing, if needed.. B-1s can do incredible damage from afar, also. No need for them to get close.

The folks doing close air support - those are the ones I am concerned about. They are at risk. I am confident every one of those Americans will willingly go into harms way for the mission, but I don't want to lose a single one.In my knowledge set, I am familiar with AC-130s. I pray those young men/women stay safe.

Keep them in your thoughts, please.

State department has now set up a task force of hundreds of consular staff who are personally contacting each American Citizen still in Afghanistan, trying to personalize exit strategies for each one if they want to exit. Hopefully this means now they have some more options to get people out.

Khalid's family has applied for refugee status in the U.S. based on fear of persecution, but it's unclear how long that process might take or if they will be approved. Translators, interpreters and others who worked for the U.S. in Afghanistan are eligible to apply for special immigrant visas, but current Afghan military members or police officers are not, supporters said.
Is that true?

Quote:

In 2015, when Khalid lost part of his right leg in a rocket-propelled grenade attack, friends in the U.S. military helped get him medical care and a prosthetic leg outside the country. A month later, he was again leading special police operations in Afghanistan alongside the U.S., Green said.
Quote:

Khalid's supporters said it would have been unthinkable to leave him behind after his years of partnership with Americans.

Khalid came to the rescue in March 2013, when a special forces detachment in eastern Afghanistan's Wardak province suffered an insider attack. Someone dressed in an Afghan National Security Forces uniform opened fire, killing two Americans.

When the outpost was almost simultaneously attacked from the outside, a U.S. commander called on Khalid, who within minutes raced into the valley with a quick-reaction force to defend his American partners.
Quote:

After at least four attempts in as many days, the family finally was whisked away by helicopter Wednesday in a dramatic rescue called Operation Promise Kept carried out under cover of darkness by the U.S. military and its allies, said Robert McCreary, a former congressional chief of staff and White House official under President George W. Bush, who has worked with special forces in Afghanistan.

There's a reason they are being prioritized by the Biden Admin. Also a reason the press was rough on him today.

Once all the pravda class is out, they'll all go back to bubble wrapping him and the Taliban will start chopping off heads.

Been following along all week and haven't had anything to contribute. Just ran across this:

Quote:

For those living in other cities and provinces outside Kabul, CIA case officers, special operation forces and agents from the Defense Intelligence Agency on the ground are gathering some U.S. citizens and Afghan nationals who worked for the U.S. at pre-determined pick-up sites.

The officials would not detail where these airlift sites were for security reasons. They spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss ongoing operations.
The first half of the AP article just rehashes a lot of content that's already been discussed.
