Unfortunately that sounds very believable. Because "Taliban rounding up" could easily be flying squads, and not even under the direction of the upper Taliban leadership. They may not even want it to happen, and this kind of thing is probably happening anyway. Those kind of roving squads organize themselves without orders in situations like this.

Maybe. I hope that no one who knows will answer your question. At minimum, I hope the press doesn't find out or tell.

Personally, I find it highly unlikely that the transports are going into Kabul without fighter top cover. Same for the tankers and AWACS planes one assumes are nearby. Obviously, I have zero actual knowledge.

Caveat: given the current administration, the total lack of planning, and the absolute clusterf*** this is, the transports could be going in naked.
