It a practical impossibility that 10k Americans are going to stroll down the airport road safely in the middle of the night.

Per State Dept via AlJazeera: Taliban is allowing Americans into the airport for the most part. Large numbers gave already made it. A few have had trouble.

What the hell? How pathetic.

The fact that we are getting significant numbers of people out is a win. Again, over the last day I've been very hopeful that Taliban statements would be honored for now, and so far they seem to have been. The problem with the Taliban as you have a bunch of unsophisticated goons running around who are not always going to follow directions.

Taliban leaders probably aren't going to be happy with people causing problems. Hurts their narrative.

Hell Hitler and the Nazis were organized.

An Aussie guy interviewed on Sky News runs an aide organization that has a presence in four provinces. He got to the airport early but had to wait a few days for the plane to pick him up. Said he's been in contact with the local Afghans affiliated with the organization and the Taliban has already started letting them work again in two provinces even though it is a foreign NGO. They've had trouble in the other two.

We are going to see a pattern of different Taliban factions and different goon squads doing things differently in different locations. May cause some tension amongst the factions. This is a tenuous alliance. Taliban is not monolithic.

Look, I've posted before that I've been awake for pretty much four days straight pacing around in circles and I've probably lost over 10 pounds. I can't put this down. I am absolutely devastated. I know what is happening to our Afghan allies. I'm going to take any good news I can right now. Don't really have much else of a choice. A lot of our people are getting out, at least in Kabul.

Very worried about the people outside of that area.
