The Taliban, to my knowledge, have never been officially recognized as a terrorist organization. If we didn't do it at the height of the conflicts under R presidents, I highly doubt it's going to happen now.

California Rep. Darrell Issa announced his office had successfully evacuated an elderly couple trapped in Afghanistan Wednesday

An elderly couple trapped in Afghanistan is returning to San Diego after weeks of being 'harassed and intimidated' by the Taliban, a congressman from California reported.

'This is a cause for celebration and the result of almost countless hours of work under very difficult conditions,' Rep. Darrell Issa announced in a statement Wednesday.

'Our team simply would not give up, and today it paid off and we got them home.'

The couple, who are in their 80s, are among the 33 members of his district he says he has helped escape the country after the Taliban seized control. Their names were withheld to protect Afghan relatives still living in the country.

What he and the rest of President Biden's administration didn't talk about was the intel that identified this vehicle for a drone strike. We will probably never hear the true story as it may have been intel from the Taliban knowingly killing these people.

They actually did assert that it was behavior identified by drone surveillance that confirmed the unsourced intel that identified a white Toyota Corolla as the vehicle. It's that "white Corolla" bit of intel that they are not going to come clean about. Meanwhile, the Taliban tipsters...

That astounding figure, according to WaPo, isn't just because of the cars' legendary reliability. Instead, their popularity was attributed to an early anti-Western sentiment during the Russian occupation of the country in the 80s. At that time, the American and European cars were common in Afghanistan but were replaced by the only two choices they had, Russian Volgas and Toyota Corollas even though Japan was allied with North American and Western Europe in the '80s, Corollos were considered an "acceptable alternative." Volgas were hardly known for their reliability, so the region quickly flooded with Corollas. Currently, the largest distributor of vehicles is Toyota in Afghanistan. And the most popular color is White because it reflects the most heat and white doesn't show much dirt.

Why you need intel on the ground. Over horizon won't work for those types of drone strikes.
