Yeah. Guy I work with and his fiancee. Not bad, cold-like symptoms. He was out all last week. He had never had it before though.

The Israel and UK data show even those who are vaccinated get the Delta variant at the same rate or even higher as the unvaccinated.

Yes, I work with someone that got the poke and he's currently in recovery from Covid. He's young and just had cold like symptoms but is recovering.

Not according to our all knowing and all loving big brother government. Everyone must get the stick or they're killing everyone and making everyone get masks to come back.

I know of at least 4 who tested positively, post vaccination, and maybe up to 6 people as 2 more think they had it. 7 if you include myself, but I also didn't get tested. All minor symptoms, as the vaccine is much more about preventing serious cases as it is preventing cases altogether(at first, it seemed like it might help prevent it altogether but that's no longer the case).

Of course, no one I knew had it seriously bad before the vaccine, either. In general, 99% of the people I know would be just fine from it.

Right now, the worst I've felt in the past 18 months came after the vaccine. It is the only time in my life I've gotten sick from a shot (confirmed with my parents). Not to say that the vaccine was a bad idea, just the worst one I've ever had by far.

My daughter and her roommate, mid-20's, received the COVID vax (Moderna) on the same days. They tested COVID positive and both are sick as a dog and working from home for the next 2 weeks.

Ask that golfer guy how he feels about the vaccine.

And that college baseball team who made it to Omaha.

A friend of mine had COVID in May 20, got the vaccine earlier this year, and had COVID 2-3 weeks ago.

father in law was crazy pro vax. really went over the top telling everyone in they family they have to get it and started segregating the family based on who got vaxxed and who didn't (i didn't).

he's currently laid up with Covid

Ive known many. But we have to test weekly. Majority wouldn't even know they had it if it wasn't for the test.

The biggest part of the vaccine is so a person doesn't get severely sick. So while some people might get it (just like in any vaccine), it protects people from the hospital and death at a very high rate.

So if close to 50% of the population is vaccinated skewed towards the elderly and high risk then we can just go back to normal, correct?

My father-in-law had the 2nd vaccine shot, I believe the Pfizer vaccine, shortly after he came down with COVID-19 and was hospitalized for a couple of days. Right before going to the hospital his blood oxygen level dropped to 80, not good. Was on oxygen for a couple days then released.

Glad to share. I'll go through day by day:
Day 1: mild cough
Day 2: mild cough, sinus congestion
Day 3: moderate cough, sinus congestion, 101.5F fever
Day 4: moderate cough, sinus congestion, 99.5-101F fever, moderate fatigue, slight loss of smell
Day 5: moderate cough, sinus congestion, moderate fatigue
Day 6: mild cough, sinus congestion, moderate fatigue
Day 7: mild cough, sinus congestion, mild fatigue

The best thing I can compare it to is flu symptoms with a bit more intense fatigue spells.

I had the Moderna shot in March this year. 34 and relatively healthy/active.

I am on the exact same timeline with nearly identical symptoms. My temp was elevate to 101.5 for two days and disappeared when ivermectin was started. But the cough congestion and exhaustion trends are exactly the same. I would also describe as a flu as opposed to mild or cold like symptoms. No taste or smell since last Wednesday evening.

I had moderna fully vaccinated in February. I'm 50 and have controlled hypertension. My internist said a lot of vaccinated people are popping positive with symptoms as opposed to asymptomatic.

ETA smell and taste loss

I'm sure they feel that people should stop worrying about COVId and let people live their lives. The golfer was so sick from the rona he was up by 6 strokes.

Time to let this thing burn through the population and see who is weak and who is not.

A small study from NYU that looked at antibodies vs different variants can be used to guesstimate efficacy. It shows that a vaccine for original type gives roughly 70-80% protection from infection against delta, looking at antibody response.*

So if 50% of the population is vaccinated, you'd expect around 25% of cases to be in the vaccinated side. But the cases should be less severe than if the people were unvaccinated (90% reduction in risk for severity).

To answer OP - yes, I know two people who got Pfizer 5 months ago who tested positive this week, both in their 60s. One symptomatic the other not.

*It's not clear how well antibody response correlates to efficacy. In the short term it looks really tightly related, but in long term there's other stuff going on with the immune system that may make antibody numbers not as relevant.

I didn't get the vaccine but was in the hospital with Covid related pneumonia for a week last November. Tested positive for the antibodies 2-3 weeks ago. Wonder if I've had the antibodies this long or was exposed to Covid again and rebuilt the antibodies.

About six weeks after my J&J shot, I got the dreaded delta variant. It was a miserable couple of days of sinus pressure and drainage- had to pop some Mucinex and blow my nose several times. It wasn't as bad as the side effects from the vaccine shot, but I had to stay home from work those couple of days - didn't want anyone in the office to freak out if I accidentally sneezed or sniffled.

People will respond to how our leaders are using metrics to drive decisions.

I agree with you on the purpose of the vaccine but it should stop a large portion of infections all together, regardless the way it's going and the way our countries and others leaders are acting they don't believe your point above.
