Perhaps, but wanting and needing <> being able to compete with A&M, Texas, Oklahoma, LSU, and of course Alabama. It doesn't make sense to me from an SEC standpoint, but at the same time, I am not really sure I care at this point. As a number of posters have said NIL opened the door for college sports to become minor league NFL. I predict two things will happen
1) The NFL will in fact get involved, and throw money behind this. They may already be doing that discretely, but if not I suspect they will. Whether we know it or not.
2) The women's sports will stir the pot. Everyone seems to focus on football, but what happens when the best women's college basketball player gets a $1,000 NIL deal, and the best college football player gets $1,000,000? Just look at the women's soccer team as one example.
If the NCAA does in fact go to the way side, what about eligibility? Who is going to dictate that? This is probably less likely, but what is going to keep "College Football" from literally becoming a professional alternative to NFL?
This whole decisions seems rushed, and poorly thought out.
