I'm not the originator of that perspective, but it's the only thing that makes sense when they come after the nonsensical. "Etymology be damned, this sounds like something I can get credit for attacking!"

As the father of one of the 80 or fewer female fighter pilots in the USAF, I can conform that this is bullcrap.

And if an airline is facing a shortage of pilots, they can pay better, lobby for an older retirement age, and add an ab inito program to train pilots, rather than poaching military pilots or making civilians pay for their own training.

This is a total failure on the part of the FAA. A quick search (that they apparently couldn't be bothered with) would tell them that the word comes from "cockswain" which in turn derives from the old English terms for "boat-servant" (coque is the French word for "shell")

No ***** It can cost $100k or more to be a qualified pilot, especially after Congress implemented those dumb 1500 hour ATP requirements for FOs. What does it take to be an FA? Do they need type ratings for each different aircraft over 12,500 lbs? Of course pilots make more. They're in charge of the ****ing aircraft.
