Let's be honest though, 80-90% of the revenue from oil and gas is from refined transportation fuels. If we get rid of liquid transportation fuels most of the non-super major O&G industry will disappear.

Some chemist feel free to correct me, but my understanding is that you can't make plastics without also making liquid fuels.

My understanding is that certain types of crude will make more plastics than others during the refining process, but its not like plastics are a choice of product to make out of crude compared to fuel. Each relies on different components of fuel. Maybe there is some overlap (I don't honestly know), but my understanding is that it is not 100%.

Pulling that load with EVs today will get you 20-30 miles down the road.... maybe.

While I agree the public education system has some significant shortcomings, I wish people would acknowledge their own hand in its demise. There are good teachers that work hard and want to hold students to a high standard of accountability. However, they are often hamstrung by policy makers and the parents who support them that continually demand the bar be lowered.

Nobody has the will to fix the problem. If we do decide to fix it, there are going to be kids that, academically, won't survive the upheaval. Nobody wants to deal with that reality.

Yep. My truck spends a lot of time on public land roads and two- tracks. There isn't a charging station within 200 miles. So I'm going to pass. But you guys that only use your vehicle in the city - by all means buy an electric vehicle. Just don't judge me when I choose not to.

I've seen some mention of Patagucci... at least Yvon Chouinard is a realist. I may not agree with everything Yvon says but at least he has logic and ideals. Nothing wrong with sustainability, repairing old stuff etc.

The TNF boys are a 100% profit drive (which is fine) but will do things that please the majority of their shareholders vs. having a belief and sticking with it.

What happened was some EcoWarrior was trying to score easy points as a middle manager and it completely blew up in their faces. NorthFace is trying to ignore it and forget it happened, O&G isn't letting them.

But these bozos need to be reminded that petrochemicals are in products used daily. You can't just cancel out the entire sector.

VF is headquartered in Greensboro, North Carolina. VF also owns Williamson-Dickies, Bulwark, and Workrite. The last two companies, and a large portion of the first, are basically centered on selling to the energy industries, be they what they may; O&G, Wind, Solar, Electrical, etc. VF plays at, and actually really does, being a great corporate citizen, but they are a for profit public corporation that has to make returns. I know from my experience and time in the industry that the returns on sales from Bulwark and Workrite are better than North Face. Actual returns, maybe not volume, but profit margins.

I would be real interested to have heard the internal VF discussions regarding what the dude at North Face said considering the promotion of their work wear brands.
