I have tutored many of their kids

But I do think if their kids need to be in UIL, it should be under the same restraints as everyone else on the team.

I wouldn't make that assumption. My cousin home schools her kids, and they are pretty sharp. I have seen hippie wannabes home their kids that turned out to be barely functional idiots.

Our former church used to introduce all of the high school grads every year. Half the kids were home schooled and attending great colleges. I bet the public school parents in the crowd were triggered like Tanya.

They aren't always great students.

Sometimes they are terrible, spoiled brats never given discipline or taught to write above elementary or able to math beyond division

Why?

I know kids who played hockey in high school and in Frisco there just 1 varsity team playing UIL hockey, the kids went to different schools in Frisco. No difference, their coaches didn't work for a school.

My kids are going to private school or will be home schooled. I'm basically at the point where I'm fairly certain that public school is like subjecting my kid to Russian Roulette.

Will they be fine at any school? Probably. Much better shot at not becoming a lunatic leftist or a leach by the options I'm considering though.

This legislation gives more choice to the parents which I applaud.

I'm sure the kids are going to go to the practices when and where they are held. These kids in other states aren't just showing up Friday night for the football game. This "where the coaches are" argument makes no ficking sense

I am curious if Tanya objects to the system we have here in our county school district in Tennessee, where there is a "co-op" between smaller schools that allows kids from one school to play sports for another school if their school does not offer that sport.

Will these homeschool kids be able to participate in UIL extracurriculars at any school in their district or just the one they are zoned for? If a student was at a magnet across town and moved to a homeschool curriculum, would that student then participate at their magnet or the locally zoned school?

I tutored homeschool kids and had some come to my classroom.

They were often super smart.

they didn't know how to be told no or lose.

I think if they need to be in UIL, put them in public school.

They need the same parameters as those with whom they will compete

The idea that home school kids are further ahead than public school kids is a myth. My wife has been teaching high school English for 26 years. In her experience, the home school kids that came to high school for UIL events were behind their counterparts on a net basis. Yes, there were lots of kids that were ahead of the public school classmates. But the ones that were behind were several grade levels behind.
There will be coaches that abuse this system. Kids that are dumber than a post will all of the sudden be passing.

If public schools suck so bad, homeschooling extras should be better as well. Create your own teams and move on.

I think all school sports should be abolished, move it all to private clubs and organizations. It's a waste of money now given how all of these activities are available year round outside of school.

UIL used to be for kids in public schools.
Hopefully it will go back to that because I cannot imagine the lawsuits that will now happen
