Agree entirely. As probably first post also shows. This is about winning that more mindless block that ignore the policy aspects, and is just large enough to give cover for `beyond the margins' voter fraud to ensure it. That's the answer to what happened. It was a bit of both.

I'm pretty sure Florida will be red for a while. The Cubans in South Florida are seeing all too familiar happenings in DC and with the dems.

My honest hope is that Trump could somehow get behind DeSantis.
Trump media network would make Trump a ton of money. Trump backing DeSantis would be an unstoppable ticket. It also kind of seals Trump's legacy as the GOAT, putting America before his pride.
Not sure if his ego will allow it.
But, could you imagine DeSantis as president, and Trump as head of the FBI? He's not qualified to be AG, but maybe some special appointment as part of the DOJ?

I wasn't excited about Trump at first, but I'd have voted for Attilla the Hun over Hillary.
I grew to respect a lot of what Trump did to help America. I didn't care about the tweets.
I think -- based on what I've seen so far -- DeSantis has the better shot at winning.

Desantis only because I don't think Trump is electable. I do really like what Desantis is doing down in Florida.

So many of you have spent so much energy and time defending Trump, both because of who is attacking him and because of the hypocrisy and disingenuous nature of many of the attacks, that you've managed to blind yourselves to his many glaring flaws.
DeSantis has most of Trump's positives, plus his own unique positives in terms of clarity of communication and command of subject matter, without having anywhere near Trump's negatives.
It's a no-brainer for DeSantis.

Best case scenario is Trump either sits back (lol) or endorses DeSantis. We have to win in 2024, the consequences of losing are hard to even measure.
DeSantis is basically like a Trump/Cruz lovechild. He has the balls and brash of Trump and can connect with the average voter but he has the intellect and debating skills of Cruz. DeSantis will absolutely destroy journalists intellectually and with facts in ways Trump could only do occassionally. He also understands how to clean house and isn't afraid of the Press, much less Democrats.
Trump simply has too much baggage and outside of his hardcore base people are tired of him or despise him. I just can't see him winning at a 77/78 year old, especially because Biden will likely not run for re-election as an 82 year old. Trump just can't keep his damn mouth shut when he needs to and he loves the attention too much which always gets him in trouble. That's not going to get better as the physical tolls of age catch up to him in the next few years. Be the Kingmaker and not the King should be his goal.

Being from Florida, I read this as, who will take over for DeSantis if he becomes President? And right now, your options are one of three Democrats (Val Demmings, Nikki Fried, Charlie Crist), with no potential Republicans in the bullpen.
I wouldn't think they run against each other. If Trump is going run DeSantis would be his pick for VP. That said DeSantis is Trump but more polished and able to respond better to media, public, and opponents with out turning people off. This is what Reagan was able to do and DeSantis has those qualities.
