She wasn't my girlfriend, and yes, they were kissing when he started to put his hand down the front of her pants, and she told him "no" and grabbed his hand, but he didn't stop.

I think every person has someone of the opposite sex they care for deeply but not in the same way you do for your SO. She's that person for me.

Are you seriously still on this thread after you got owned by so many people for your stupid and uninformed takes on this situation?
What's with the massive growth of non-agtag accounts appointing themselves moderators of this board?

Permabanned posters or townies?

Am I supposed to have an Ag tag to have an account and post here? Can I not be a fan of A&M and have discussions with people that share my interests?

FYI, I am a "townie" son of an Aggie joined the Marines after high school, and came back home to College Station after a 20 year career. This is my home. I don't have a problem with the cops here.

You can take your validation standards here and stick them up your ass sideways. What the **** do you care?

It's funny, and sad that so many people on here think they know better than the guys who train constantly and deal with that kind of trash on a regular basis. Yall should watch some videos of cops with that hug a thug mentality and see how that works. Spoiler, the cop ends up dead or seriously injured.

The guy saying "who deputized you" makes me think he's one of those sovereign citizen nutjobs. The only thing those types of people understand is overwhelming physical force.

A few things...

1) Calling a biker that runs a red light "trash". Classic.
2) This is College Station, not South Central. It is the cushiest of police jobs. Nothing says hardcore police work like handing out red light tickets to bikers next to a college campus full of middle-upper middle class white kids.
3) You say "trained" and I have to laugh. Is that what they teach you in cop school? To take down pesky bikers that don't IMMEDIATELY follow your orders? Give me a break.

Again, it's not hard to practice discretion. Judging by this officers physique, he obviously took the lazy way out here like he probably does in everything in his life and decided that force was the only way to get this hardened criminal off the streets.

I'm not gonna read the entire 8 pages of comments, so forgive me if this has already been stated...

1- the bicyclist wasn't tackled for running a red light. He was tackled for evading. I seriously think some of you have serious confirmation bias issues, getting in the way of your critical thinking skills.

2- if you attempt to evade me, I am going to assume the worst. You are a poor decision maker at best, but you will probably fight me, you may have a weapon, you may be on narcotics.

3- As a cop, I will NEVER come out on the losing end of an altercation. You don't comply, you are going to lose. If I am wrong, the courts will decide it, not on the scene.

4- not a big fan of CSPD. Really dislike the interactions I had with UPD; I had one interaction with was a complete jackwagon UPD cop, who should not have been a cop. But I do give cops the benefit of the doubt, until they prove otherwise.

I emphasized this back on an earlier page....

If you ride a bicycle in the roadway, you MUST follow all traffic laws. Period. Not even for debate.

Do you support laws requiring them to be treated as a motor vehicle?

If not, you should be lobbying that they have no right to use on public roads... since that is the end result...

This kind of approach is how cops get killed.

The next time I read about a bicyclist running a red light and killing a cop during the apprehension process will be the first. Let's keep the offense in mind here.

And some riders need a lot of bike / gym time before dressing in a leotard. Dressing in spandex does not make you look athletic / fit if you're overweight

I know facts and other mitigating circumstances don't matter to some people on here.
University drive, especially in the Northgate area has a high rate of motor vehicle accidents involving pedestrian/cyclists.

I would bet they have enforcement in the area for these types of violations on a regular basis.
Either the police step in to try to stop dangerous behavior, or embrace and celebrate all of the Darwin Award recipients after their demise.

CSPD certainly deserves a lot of criticism, and maybe he didnt need to be tased, but the dude brought this on himself. Don't run from the police, especially in a place where cops are notoriously poor about showing up for court. If you're in the right, you'll usually be able to get tickets dismissed in College Station.

Disagree 100%. The cop told him to get on his stomach and he didn't. He also failed to put his hands behind his back. The cop told him he would get tased if he didn't stop resisting and then he got tased.

It just seems like it made his job even harder in this scenario. He could have just helped the other officer and forced him onto his stomach. Instead he awkwardly stood there fumbling with his taser and then spent 10-15 seconds looking around for a place to tase because the backpack was in the way. By the time he tases him he's already in the position he was trying to get him into before he tased him.

It was an exercise in futility, and by the end of it it just seems like he's tasing him out of spite. I don't feel sorry for the idiot but that cop either needs to get a lot more skilled and efficient with the use of his taser or needs to just not be using it.

No, it was an exercise in do what the cop tells you to and you won't get tased.

Sure, and I don't feel sorry for the guy. But the point of tasing someone isn't to be punitive, it's to help force them to do something (or stop doing something) you otherwise havent been able to do by other means. In this case, it would have been faster, safer and more efficient to just physically help the other officer, and byt he time he actually gets tased the other officer has managed to get him into the desired position by himself. So the tasing itself accomplished nothing other than inflicting punitive discomfort.

I'm confused. Do people with medical degrees know more about Taser deployments than police do these days?

I'm saying that particular officer is either not comfortable with using his taser, or panics under stress. It took him longer to get the taser out of it's holster than the entire process of tasing and subduing him should have taken. Then he couldnt even figure out where to tase him until the reason he was going to tase him in the first place was resolved.

It doesn't require any degrees whatsoever to identify this

Once again, it appears as if you try to portray yourself as someone who knows and understands police policy, escalation of force and compliance techniques.

I don't know where you got your medical degree and I don't care, but it sounds like you got your law degree at the Dry Bean.

What I'm saying is completely independent of whatever their policies are. The officer very clearly struggles mightily with his taser in that video.

Those of us who prefer the people granted with the authority to enforce law by force be competent in wielding that force.

Had this been a situation of actual importance, with someone who actually meant to do those officers harm, they probably end up injured or dead.

Quote:

He deployed the Taser and got the suspect in cuffs

The individual is already on his stomach and the other officer cuffing him by the time Barney Fife figures out how his taser works.

I'm sure CSPD gets more than enough complaints as it is. In this case, the idiocy of the person on the receiving end of clumsy police work probably deserved a good shock so it evens out in the end.
